First name and last name the same letter?

Hi,

Our last name is Henry and we have both finally found a name we like for our little girl due this year.

The first name we like is Hazel, but I am worried Hazel Henry sounds odd as both start with H. DH loves it but I am not sure.

What is everyone else's opinions on first names and last names beginning with the same first letter.

Thank you. 🤩❤️

I think it sounds nice. Apart from both starting with H they don't sound alike at all. Lots of people have the same initials x

DowntonCrabby · 23/08/2018 16:54

My children are both A.A just the way it worked out we didn’t plan it but it works fine.
Hazel Henry is lovely.

bridgetreilly · 23/08/2018 16:55

It's perfectly fine and quite common.

Candyflip · 23/08/2018 16:55

I love alliterations, Hazel Henry is cool, it sounds quite 1950s.

PixelAteMe · 23/08/2018 16:55

No problem at all!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 23/08/2018 16:58

I think 'Hazel Henry' sounds rather glamorous, actually...

ChellySmuff · 23/08/2018 16:59

My ds2 is LLL - I love it!

Smoliver · 23/08/2018 17:00

I like Hazel Henry a lot. I think it's a lovely name.

I've never really seen an issue with the same initials in a name before. Besides, you can always add a middle name with a different initial into the mix.

hurrythefuckupgeorge · 23/08/2018 17:02

I am having this problem as our surname is R and the name we love is R too. Hazel Henry sounds lovely though

Heratnumber7 · 23/08/2018 17:07

Hasn't done Harriet Harman any harm. Nor Harry Hill.

SuperstarDJ · 23/08/2018 17:27

I love alliterative names Smile

RavenLG · 23/08/2018 17:53

Hazel Henry is cool, it sounds quite 1950s.
I agree. It could be a private investigator name. Or a journalist. I'm imagining a hourglass figured women, with chestnut hair worn in victory rolls, with cat eye glasses, red lips and a tweed pencil skirt suit. She takes no bullshit and puts men in their place --comes out of crazy day dream now-
Ehm, Blush it's a lovely name OP! Defo go for it.

ReginaPhalange89 · 23/08/2018 18:19

I think it sounds lovely actually !
My neice has an EE name , obviously not going to say it here, but it sounds lovely said out loud

LML83 · 23/08/2018 18:21

My married name has the same initial as my first name. At first I thought it was ridiculous, now it's just my name and I can't believe I ever worried about it.

I like Hazel Henry.

FartnissEverbeans · 23/08/2018 19:24

I like alliterative names! They sound like superheroes Grin

Hazel Henry is lovely!

physicskate · 24/08/2018 11:41

My favourite gilrs' names start with 'ro' (Rosie, Roisin, etc) but so does our surname! So they've been taken off the list... I don't think R.R. Would be so bad... but I've drawn the line at Ro.ro.

My maiden name was kate.c and it always sounded a bit harsh to me... but h.h. Is quite soft and the rest of the name doesn't have assonance, so should work well!!

AliasGrape · 24/08/2018 11:45

Alliterative names are cool, I like them! Hazel Henry sounds lovely.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 24/08/2018 18:31

Hazel Henry is a truly, lovely name.

Belindabauer · 24/08/2018 23:00

Fabulous.
Sounds like a character from an Agatha Christie novel.
My name is alliterated and I get lots and lots of positive comments.

GoldfishPretzels · 24/08/2018 23:36

I love the name Hazel Henry.

The names have no shared sounds apart from the H, so I think they're absolutely fine together.

I think Hallie Henry, or Heather Henry would be too much, but Hazel Henry is just fine.

unicornchaser · 24/08/2018 23:55

I'm one who doesn't like this.
Spent ages trying to come up with a first name that doesn't begin with out surname initial (M) or mine and OH first name initial (D) or step sons first name initial (E)

But go with what you like! If you like the name Hazel then absolutely go with it and don't worry what others think Smile

MikeUniformMike · 25/08/2018 13:19

Harry Hill is a stage name. His real name is Matthew Keith Hall.

GraceMarks · 25/08/2018 17:27

If you do go for it (and I think it sounds fabulous) please give her a middle name beginning with R so her initials get to be HRH!

zeebeedee · 26/08/2018 13:15

Loads of Marvel/ superhero characters have alliterative sounding names - Lois Lane, Bruce Banner, Clark Kent, Reed Richards, Sue storm etc - It's great!

And my great-uncles mum changed the order of his names to make his initials HRH (although he was always called by his middle name)

TheHalfbloodPrincess · 26/08/2018 13:24

@zeebeedee me and dp played this game when we were dithering about ds’s LLL name - I’ll add

Peter Parker
Lex Luther
Loki Laufeyson
Matt Murdoch
Bucky Barnes
Stephen strange
Jessica jones
Wade Wilson
Pepper Potts

He’s either going to be a superhero or a super villain 😂😂💦
