Hello

This is my first time on mumsnet so forgive me if I've got something wrong.
I've just found out I'm having a baby girl and I need name suggestions. We are hoping to decide quite soon as a lot of people are asking so they can get personalised gifts.
We definitely want to give her a middle name too so when she is an adult she's got another option.

We have made a list of our favourite names. Please can everyone tell me which are there favourite combinations and any other name suggestions that are similar to the ones we like.
1. Luna
2. Sky
3. Primrose
4. Daisy
5. Emmeline
6. Henriette
7. Fleur
8. Scarlet
9. Lottie
10. Polly
11. Lara
12. Laura
13. Lyra
14. Elke
15. Posy
16. Pansy
17. Clara
18. Levi
19. Lovi
20. Adaline
21. Alara
22. Elara

Thank you for all your help in advance. Grin

Sky makes a great middle name!

Clara Sky
Adaline Sky
Adelaide Sky

Also if it was Henrietta, then I love that name too

Yes I think sky as a middle name rather than a first name.
I think Adelaide sky has a nice ring to it

I love Lara but quite like Elara or Alara. My DH wanted be to call our DD Alaris (we didn’t!!).

AlliKaneErikson · 23/08/2018 22:33

Forgot to say also love Leia (we would have had a Lara and a Leia if we’d had two girls).

First of all, very many congratulations. Your list contains some pretty names, and it's really nice that you want to honour your father's name but 'Lovi' does not mean 'Jupiter in Latin'.

The Latin for Jupiter is Iuppiter (capital letter 'I,' as in India; the Latin alphabet did not have a letter 'J'). Another name for Jupiter in Latin was 'Iovis' (again, capital ' I' as in India); this is spelled 'Jove' in English.
Latin also has other names for Jupiter - the Encyclopaedia Brittanica gives them: www.britannica.com/topic/Jupiter-Roman-god

Latin words changed their endings according to their function in a sentence. 'Iovi' (Jovi) meant 'to or for Jove' or 'to or for Jupiter'

"for Jupiter" would kind of work though, no? As in the child is named for their grandfather, Jupiter.

From your list my favourite name is definitely Laura. Classic, pretty, and underused at the moment. I think Laura Henriette sounds gorgeous.
I also really like Clarissa as an alternative to Clara. Congratulations!
