Annabelle

We are pretty much set on Annabelle. It goes really nicely with Clara our other DD.

DH is very keen on Charlotte as a middle name as it's his favourite but we ruled it out due to popularity.

Question is Annabelle Charlotte too much of a mouthful? If so any helpful suggestions?

Much prefer it spelled Annabel! But yes they go well together.

Optimusprimesmother · 21/08/2018 17:55

Horror film

Sorry

AnyaMoondial · 21/08/2018 17:58

I prefer Annabel, but yes they sound good together.

They are fine together OP.
You’ll hardly ever say the names together anyway - unless you actually want her to be known by her two first names.

WhatAmISupposedToBeDoing · 21/08/2018 18:03

The combination makes me think of Annie and Clarabelle, Thomas the Tank engine's coaches.

daisypond · 21/08/2018 18:31

Annabel is better, I think. Annabelle looks slightly affected/prissy to me. But it goes fine alongside Charlotte.

pipilangstrumpf · 21/08/2018 18:35

Annabel is much nicer. Don't like Annabelle.

Cbeebiesrehab · 21/08/2018 19:00

I too prefer the Annabel spelling but think it’s a lovely name regardless and goes well with Charlotte IMO :)

Peachbubble · 21/08/2018 19:02

Both lovely names and fine together

Marcipex · 21/08/2018 19:22

I prefer Annabel spelling. I think it's nice with Charlotte . It's not too long unless you have to embroider it on school uniform 😉

Quizeerascal · 21/08/2018 19:29

Clara and Annabelle together remind me of Thomas the Tank engine, not that thats necessarily a bad thing and they're both lovely names.

Sandstormbrewing · 21/08/2018 19:58

I instantly thought of Thomas the tank engine too! Both ok on their own but not don't like them together.

kenandbarbie · 21/08/2018 20:06

Annabelle Charlotte is lovely!

Potkettleblack2 · 21/08/2018 20:24

I'm pregnant at the moment and my two front runners are Clara and Annabel...lovely names. I think Annabel Charlotte is lovely (I think I do prefer the simpler spelling though).

Mamabearx4 · 21/08/2018 20:25

Good name i have an annabelle shes 9. Now middle name

Quizeerascal · 21/08/2018 21:17

Sorry hadn't realized that you were asking whether Charlotte went with Annabelle not whether Annabelle went with Clara in which case yes they go together well but like pp I think the Annabel spelling goes better.

HettieBettie · 21/08/2018 21:18

Beautiful name

DramaAlpaca · 21/08/2018 23:05

Annabelle is too fussy for me & I much prefer Annabel, but it does work with Charlotte as a middle name.

ZebraKid71 · 21/08/2018 23:09

I prefer the shorter spelling, lovely name but not with Clara as a sibling - definitely screams Thomas the tank!

queenofkale · 22/08/2018 14:30

I'm torn on the spelling for those who prefer Annabel can I ask why?

For me I think it almost looks unfinished (but I am dyslexic so a few words look like that to me.) I wanted to use Annabelle so she had the option of Anna or Belle as nicknames.

I am really not fussed about the Thomas thing... I don't think that this will be a problem long term or even really while they are toddlers.

Annabel is much nicer.

Annabelle looks very overly girly and pretentious to me, and it's not the classic spelling. It's a little yooniq.

And she can still use Belle as a nickname if it's spelt Annabel. I know two Isabel's who go by Belle.

pipilangstrumpf · 22/08/2018 15:44

Annabel is much nicer! More elegant and classy!

Annabelle is too frilly and has a very different feel.

ReginaPhalange89 · 22/08/2018 15:45

I also prefer Annabel, but I'm not sure why ! Annabelle looks like two names stuck together I think... If that makes sense....

But I do think Anabel Charlotte is lovely. She could still go by Anna or Belle as a nn, don't think the spelling changes that.

daisypond · 23/08/2018 19:02

Annabel is the classic English spelling - like Isobel/Isabel instead of Isabelle.

Annabelle is a bit pretentious and fiddly. The extra E doesn't add anything if you're going to pronounce it Annabel. Annabelle is the more French spelling, so you'd expect it to pronounced differently with the stress on the Belle, so AnnaBELLE.
