Boys names pronounced and spelt the same in English and Dutch

My Dutch DH and I have found out we're expecting a boy. We were initially considering the name Jack, until I realised that his Dutch relatives would want to pronounced it "Yack"!

Does anyone have any suggestions of boys names that are spelt and pronounced the same in English and Dutch?

Thinking through my Dutch colleagues (tho don't know if I'm mangling their names with my British accent)
Peter, Burt, Lucas, Timo, Gus, Lars.

Any use when pronounced by your husband?

My Dutch friends are Hirwin (Irwin in England) and Asmus. I also know a Lucas who is known as Luke.

Hugo, Steve, Sven, Lex, Sam, Luc.

What's his dad's name?

Very few names will be said exactly the same way.

The Dutch/English couples I know have Charlie, Aaron, Lucas and Elliot. I think Matt (Matthew/Mathais) would also work.

Oh, and Jack would actually be pronounced like 'sheck' more than 'yak'. Which still isn't great!

Jeroen isn't the same! Its Yer-oon in Dutch. Alexander. Max. David (though that's more Dah-vid in dutch.

We just went for names that were spelled the same in both languages. My daughters name is same spelling but different pronunciation (but a pronunciation I like!)

The Dutch use a lot of English names. Do avoid any 'g's and 'j's, though. I've met Steve, Max, Finn, Dean, Alex, Leo... Short boys names are very 'in' here.

Google "The Bridge" characters for inspiration.

toomanychilder · 21/08/2018 18:20

The Bridge is Scandinavian, not Dutch.

AtticaRose · 21/08/2018 18:21

@vanillasugar The Bridge is Danish/Swedish...?

My Dutch friend's son is called Otto. His DSF is English and the name has worked v well in both countries.
