The name Lucian for a boy? Plus what are your thoughts on the name? Do you know any?

Loo-cee-an. Great name!

Greenandcabbagelooking · 19/08/2018 21:56

Loo-shun.

I’m not keen on it.

Marcipex · 19/08/2018 21:56

Loo see an . I think it's a bit wet tbh.

NC4Now · 19/08/2018 21:57

Loose Ian.

DwangelaForever · 19/08/2018 21:57

Another vote for Loo-shun (but maybe an accent thing as I'm from Belfast)

WooYa · 19/08/2018 21:57

Loo-shun Malfoy? Grin

RiverTam · 19/08/2018 21:58

Loo-see-ann

CountFosco · 19/08/2018 21:59

Like Lucian Freud. Good name.

berylmeryl · 19/08/2018 21:59

PassportBridgetPants · 19/08/2018 22:00

Loose-yun.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 19/08/2018 22:01

Lucy-un

I quite like it

Orchidflower1 · 19/08/2018 22:02

Loo see un. - will get shorted to loo would you be happy with that?

AtiaoftheJulii · 19/08/2018 22:02

The three syllable version. Love it.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 19/08/2018 22:03

I’d say Looshun - I’m home counties if it’s relevant

pipilangstrumpf · 19/08/2018 22:05

Louis is super popular despite shortening to Loo. Don't think Lucian is at any more risk than Louis

LockedOutOfMN · 19/08/2018 22:06

Loo-see-ann

starfish8 · 19/08/2018 22:06

I liked Lucian as a name but didn't pick it as it would get mispronounced all the time!

I'd say Lou-she-an

Stinkbomb · 19/08/2018 22:45

Loo-see-an
Or
Lu-szchan

SmilingButClueless · 19/08/2018 22:47

Lucy-Ann

Dani18 · 19/08/2018 22:53

Lou- shan. I'm Scottish x

BackforGood · 19/08/2018 22:59

Loose-ee-an

I don't like it

I don't know any personally (though I have heard of the name).

Goostacean · 19/08/2018 23:06

Loo-sheun, I think... Also Home Counties, like a PP.

I like it! Although the ambiguity of pronunciation would put me off using it myself.

theunsure · 19/08/2018 23:07

It depends. I worked with a Loo-see-un and know one other pronounced that way. They were both Home Counties, very upper middle class.
But I also know a Loo-shan who has part Scottish family although English accent themselves.
I’d naturally go with the former I think.

Allthatsnot · 19/08/2018 23:11

Loo see un
Absolutely love it and was on my list every time but I kept getting over ruled.

C0untDucku1a · 19/08/2018 23:15

We considered Lucien. We love warewolf / vampire films. In Underworld different characters probounce it in different ways depending where they are from. Loo-shun or loo- cee- an.
