MikeUniformMike · 19/08/2018 19:15

Kelvin - Unit of measurement
Milo - milky drink

Love them all - I have a Rory so am biased, I may steal Fergus for the list for number 2! Magnus in third place. They're all good strong names that can't really be misheard!

moredoll · 19/08/2018 19:23

Angus - like it
Cameron - Brexit, prefer Campbell
Fergus - a great little Scottie
Kelvin - like it
Milo - like it, but it seems out of place in this list
Magnus - Icelandic? It's okay
Oliver - not keen
Rory - my favourite here

Kintan · 19/08/2018 19:24

Kelvin is very 1980s, and Cameron is a nice name but now tainted by David. Like all the rest of the names, especially Milo and Magnus :)

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 19/08/2018 19:26

I like them all ...... except Kelvin !

MikeUniformMike · 19/08/2018 19:28

Kelvin is 60-year olds name.

AtticaRose · 19/08/2018 20:16

Angus - Scottish / Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging

Cameron - David C

Fergus - Clarissa Explains it All, or was that Ferguson?

Kelvin - scientist

Milo - cat?

Magnus - Pompey the Great

Oliver - very popular, know lots of them

Rory - Doctor Who or Gilmore Girls

I actually like them all fine! Kelvin is interesting, but might get mistaken for Calvin.

userabcname · 19/08/2018 20:29

Angus - my friend's DS who is a little sweetheart.
Cameron - Cam on Modern Family.
Fergus - a cat.
Kelvin- would probably mishear as Calvin.
Milo - love this name.
Magnus - pretty awesome name, makes me think of a king or something like that.
Oliver - sweet but bland.
Rory - ok, no strong opinion or associations with it.

DramaAlpaca · 19/08/2018 20:32

I think they are all good names apart from, guess what, Kelvin. Oh, and Milo.

MyDarlingWhatIfYouFly · 19/08/2018 20:47

Angus - beef
Cameron - David
Fergus - nice name
Kelvin - temperature scale
Milo - makes me think of a modern, metrosexual. I think the same when I hear the name "Leon" Grin
Magnus - strong name, very nice
Oliver - too common nowadays
Rory - I like it

MyDarlingWhatIfYouFly · 19/08/2018 20:48

I'd add Ross to your list. Nothing at all to do with Poldark. Nope.

CountFosco · 19/08/2018 22:14

Milo and Oliver are very different from the rest. I'm not keen on either. I like Kelvin but don't know anyone Scottish who has used it as a first name, the only Kelvin I know is from Hong Kong.

I'm Scottish and several of these are names of family members so I love them and am having a giggle at some of the reactions. Assume you are from Orkney or Shetland if Magnus is on the list?

BakedBeans47 · 19/08/2018 22:16

Angus - not keen
Cameron - ok
Fergus - awful
Kelvin - not keen
Milo - like
Magnus - don’t like
Oliver - like
Rory - love

BakedBeans47 · 19/08/2018 22:17

Oh I’ve just remembered Kelvin McKenzie. That’s a big nope for Kelvin then for me

ProseccoPoppy · 19/08/2018 22:21

Aberdeen Angus
Cameron Diaz
Fergus the bogey monster
Kelvin looks like a typo for Kevin. So Kevin and Perry go large.
Milo is a gun dog, probably a black Labrador.
Magnus Magnusson
Oliver and Rory are lovely names that I would be very happy to name my son (but DH vetoed them both).

MrBull · 19/08/2018 22:24

Kelvin McKenzie is a massive wanker so also dislike that one.

The David Cameron link with the name Cameron isn't a common reaction in Scotland, I don't think. It's a great name. I also like Oliver and Rory.

knowledgeofnone · 19/08/2018 22:34

Angus - boy I went to school hiding his sexuality (apparently no longer)
Cameron - 1st crush
Fergus - the fox
Kelvin - grove art gallery... what about Calvin?
Milo - dog
Magnus - wizard name
Oliver - olly Murs
Rory - ginger

MaMaMaBelle · 19/08/2018 22:34

Like them all apart from Kelvin and Milo
I have a Cameron, love the name. Wasn't letting David ruin it!
I've always preferred Ruairidh to Rory though.

RedDwarves · 19/08/2018 22:44

Angus - Beef

Cameron - David

Fergus - Fat British shorthair cats

Kelvin - The most irritating and arrogant old man I have ever had the displeasure of working with; routinely took photos of people without their consent or awareness

Milo - The drink

Magnus - Scandinavian people

Oliver - Twist

Rory - No associations - just think it's a difficult name to say

I like Magnus, Oliver and Milo.

Goostacean · 19/08/2018 23:19

Angus - Scottish, beef, quite a strong name. Like it!
Cameron - David, and a bratty child I know called Cameron. I’m sure the name is fine, but the association taints it for me!
Fergus - like it!
Kelvin - Centrigrade, Fahrenheit... Met a Kelvin once though, he was very nice. I kept wanting to call him Kevin...
Milo - love it!
Magnus - very serious name. I like it too!
Oliver - very popular, nothing special to me.
Rory - cute. I picture a little lion, all roar-y... 😂

So, I’d narrow the list to: Angus, Fergus, Milo and Magnus.

Faez · 19/08/2018 23:24

Milo is trendy? It makes me think of the Tweenies

Dani18 · 19/08/2018 23:43

Angus- don't really like it. Bit too old lady/ man for me.
Cameron- like it but hate Cammy as a nickname
Fergus- like it. Good Scottish name and also makes me think of the spunky wee French dude in outlander.
Kelvin- don't like it. Prefer Kevin.
Milo- like a cartoon character... makes me think of the tweenies
Magnus- don't like it. Too string for a little child
Oliver- very popular
Rory- my favourite, although in keeping with Scottish trend I prefer Ruairidh x

MrBull · 19/08/2018 23:49

Ah yes, I thought Milo was a kid's show character and couldn't remember where from! It's less robust/strong as some of the others I think.
