Otis?

Currently TTC without much success but DH and I like to discuss baby names anyway.

He is on board with my other names - for a girl; Lydia or Elena and for a boy Henry or Winston. But he hates, hates, hates Otis! But I love it.

MN opinions?

Inoffensive! IMO :) Puts me in mind of Otis Redding. Seems quite different to your other choices!

OliviaStabler · 18/08/2018 23:52

I used to see that name on the lifts at work

tinytoucan · 18/08/2018 23:52

I like it Smile but it does make me think of the aardvark. Showing my age!!!

MakeYouSoSureAboutIt · 18/08/2018 23:55

Yes Goostacean Otis Redding is may have been my inspiration Grin

The name just makes me smile when I hear it. I suppose I will just continue to work on DH.

Yes to the other names

Listen to your husband

This, to me, is Otis.

Otis?

Love the name Otis. It's so sweet for a child but also totally works on a man. I love all the names from the 1900's-1920's that are now coming back into vogue. Otis sounds trendy and modern, yet it's traditional and old man chic. I think you should try and win him over on this name.

MakeYouSoSureAboutIt · 19/08/2018 00:01

Haha Faster even that made me smile. I still love it! It’s such a good name.

Otis! Grin

I like Otis , and Otto if you like O names x

PatchworkElmer · 19/08/2018 00:02

Love it!

AnyaMoondial · 19/08/2018 00:30

I like it

Goostacean · 19/08/2018 00:53

Oh even better, then enjoy!

Ah you said DH isn’t keen... well I guess I can see why someone might not like it, but it’s a question of taste rather than “oh my days NOOO!”

DramaAlpaca · 19/08/2018 00:54

Hate it.

moredoll · 19/08/2018 00:59

If you've got a plain surname, yes.

RedDwarves · 19/08/2018 01:00

I love Otis, but if your husband hates it, it's non-negotiable.

LukeSkywalkerBoots · 19/08/2018 07:00

Makes me think of the wonderful Otis Redding so 👍

pipilangstrumpf · 19/08/2018 08:05

Love the name Otis! Classic, strong and easy to spell and say! Henry is so boring and overused in comparison, especially with a common surname.

deptfordgirl · 19/08/2018 08:06

My friend has just had a baby Otis. I think it's very sweet and she's quite trendsetting so it may be on the rise.

PinkAvocado · 19/08/2018 08:08

Like Otis, love Otto which is similar I think. Really strongly dislike Winston!

Yogagirl123 · 19/08/2018 08:09

I like it Otis Redding, for me too!

motherlondon · 19/08/2018 08:09

My little boy's best friend is Otis. He is a sunny delight of a kid, and it will be a lovely mans name too.
I can't imagine a baby Winston. But that just me.

motherlondon · 19/08/2018 08:09

Oh and best of everything in conception stakes. X

annainboots · 19/08/2018 08:27

Sorry OP, not keen on Otis. No clue as to why, but I imagine Otis being the name of a mouse or a llama, could never see it on a child. This is all simply a matter of personal opinion however. Your other chosen names are absolutely lovely!
