For a girl. I know some people think it is more of a boys name but I think it’s a girls name, anyway, what are your thoughts please? Thank you x

I think girls name...have I had that wrong?
Do you like India to shorten to Indie if your questioning?

Parker231 · 18/08/2018 20:21

MY niece is Indie Grace. I think it’s a lovely name and goes with Grace as she middle name. She has a very very long surname so a short first name works well.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/08/2018 20:23

I think boy.

Indie is sweet though.

TatianaLarina · 18/08/2018 20:30

I’d assume girl.

pouraglasshalffull · 18/08/2018 20:38

I love the name Indie! Not keen on Indigo but love Indie, definitely assume girl

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 18/08/2018 20:57

Love indie but prefer indira to indigo.

Pancakepoop · 19/08/2018 22:28

Thank you all. Not keen on India or Indira Blush Anyone else?

I absolutely love Indigo and would have used it for one of my DDs but DH vetoed it!

There is something about ‘Indigo kids’ that gets mentioned as a reason not to use it? Kids with ‘woo’ powers or something I think?!

Pancakepoop · 19/08/2018 22:44

Yeah I have seen that mentioned before, doesn’t bother me at all though.

Girls name and nice. Although a little hippyish!

pipilangstrumpf · 19/08/2018 22:47

Indigo sounds masculine, I prefer India, Indiana, Indira or Indiga.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 19/08/2018 22:48

sorry I really don't like it, as it sounds very 'try hard' to be different. And that was 20 years ago.

Baby Indigo would certainly have a brother called Zak.

SmilingButClueless · 19/08/2018 22:51

I get it confused with Inigo, which is definitely a male name. Like Indie though.

Picknickers · 19/08/2018 22:54

Jodie Kidd has a son called Indio which I think is really odd. Indigo does sound like a boy's name to me. Not keen personally but your baby.

Pancakepoop · 19/08/2018 22:54

Grin FourFriedChickens I’m not keen on Zak.

My friend called her daughter indigo and I can’t tell her in real life (because well you just can’t can you... after the fact). However, I don’t like it and it has caused lots of raised eyebrows and judging from other people.

You may not care. You may indeed judge the judgers as the ones with the problem.

And you might be right. But I would want to know if it was me.

LucyFox · 19/08/2018 23:08

I know an Indigo - she’ll be about 16/17 now
It suits her :)

Redteapot67 · 19/08/2018 23:24

Four fried - I think zephyr is the new Zak!

0flowerpower0 · 19/08/2018 23:44

I like it for a girl.

Dennishoppersocks · 19/08/2018 23:45

It’s a “thing” isn’t it? An Indigo Child? All bollocks of course.

Dennishoppersocks · 19/08/2018 23:47

ReginaPhalange89 · 20/08/2018 05:26

I like Indie for a girl. Not keen on Indigo/India though

IWouldLikeToKnow · 20/08/2018 08:15

I would definitely see it as a girl's name. It's lovely.

Soapysuds64 · 20/08/2018 08:31

How about the name Indah - it means beautiful in Malay.

User878929333 · 20/08/2018 09:24

If you love it, I don’t see it’s that weird. It’s a beautiful colour. Indie is a lovely and ‘normal’ nickname. It’s one of my favourites though, and I feel slightly wistful I can’t use it now so I may be biased!

My eldest who is seven has an unusual but not at all weird name, think, Penelope. When she was born we got a lot of negativity from older and younger people alike “you’re not actually calling her that are you?”, “surely you don’t use it?!”. It was hurtful and quite odd. In a sea of Evies and Graces it stood out, I suppose.

People will judge anything that isn’t that years Jack or Olivia. Now she’s older people are very complimentary about her name and lot’s of comments about the five Islas in each class instead Confused
