Which do you prefer? DH isn't sold on either. Middle name would be Eirlys and something else.

Also any suggestions for a boy? Currently have a Rufus.

I love the name Rosie, I think Caroline is maybe a little dated, the only Caroline’s I know are middle-aged

Rufus is a great boys name

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 17/08/2018 19:49

Rosie.

Or
Sadie
Dulcie

HelloBrass · 17/08/2018 19:51

The coolest and nicest girl I know is called Caroline. She's early 30s.

I find Rosie a bit twee... I like Rose but I'd be worried Rosie would end up as the nn & that really puts me off

Sittingonthefence83 · 17/08/2018 20:08

Caroline is a lovely name. I also know and cool, clever, kind Caroline who is in their late 20's and although not an uncommon name it's not a 'popular' name so there probably won't be another Caroline in her class at school!

WobbleTime · 17/08/2018 20:12

I like them both. But if you already have a Rufus I would go for Caroline.

Threeandabit · 17/08/2018 20:13

I like Caroline best but I don't particularly like it when shortened to Caz. That's the only thing that would put me off.

joggingon · 17/08/2018 20:13

Love Caroline

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 17/08/2018 20:16

I really like Caroline

Both Caroline’s I know age posh, awesome, free spirits with fantastic glossy hair

MorrisDancingViv · 17/08/2018 20:36

I love Caroline, wish I could use it. Caro is cool for a diminutive.

I don't mind Rosie but prefer it as a diminutive for something else like Rose, Rosemary, Rosalyn etc

Rufus and Rosie also sounds a bit like a TV sitcom siblings

firsttime17 · 17/08/2018 20:37

I love Rosie, traditional and very pretty name! Rufus is a great name for a boy!x

MadisonAvenue · 17/08/2018 20:41

I love Caroline, a friend has a 5 year old Caroline and she's adorable.

Your choices made me think of Neil Diamond songs actually, and my friend's Caroline is referred to as Sweet Caroline Smile

Sandstormbrewing · 17/08/2018 20:48

I'm erring on the side of Caroline I think. When we were happy DS I really liked Iris, but it's so popular now!

Caroline is just glorious. Rosie is ok but seems less strong in comparison.

AnyaMoondial · 17/08/2018 20:52

Just seen your last comment.......Rosie is A LOT more popular than Iris.

AdaColeman · 17/08/2018 20:53

Caroline is lovely, there are already thousands of Rosies.

Dljlr · 17/08/2018 20:54

I have a Rufus, it's a great name! I would have called him Iris if he'd been a girl; we have excellent taste Wink I'm a huge fan of Rosie but I love Caro as a NN for Caroline.

Sandstormbrewing · 17/08/2018 21:24

Must depend where you are AnyaMoondial. I've not met a Rosie under 10 but keep meeting iris's all the time!

Fridgedooropen · 17/08/2018 21:26

Neil Diamond fan I presume? Grin

IMO both are nicer than Iris.

DollyWilde · 17/08/2018 21:29

My favourite name in the world is Iris but DH doesn’t like it. Mum is Caroline and I adore it but would be unfair on MIL!

I think Caroline is underused and classic so gets my vote.

Swishswish26 · 17/08/2018 21:31

My dd is called Rosie so I am biased, I do love Caroline too though. In her school of 400 children she is the only child called Rosie whereas there are I think three girls called Iris.

pipilangstrumpf · 17/08/2018 21:35

Love Caroline! Rosie is too cutesy imo.

How about Quentin or Xavier for a boy?

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 17/08/2018 21:36

I love Caroline. I also like Rose/Rosie a lot, but there are SO MANY of them around atm.

I think Caroline is too classic to be dated in a bad way. If it's good enough for royals and for Ma in Little House on the Prarie then it's good enough to use.

MikeUniformMike · 17/08/2018 21:41

Caroline. I like Rosie but prefer Caroline. Carrie or Carly (and Caz and Caro) are possible shortenings. Not too keen on Eirlys - I am aware that it means Snowdrop but the non-Welsh speakers will say it as Airluss.
Caroline Iris would be a possible combination. (Welsh-speaking people tend to say Iris as Eirys).

Nogodsnomasters · 17/08/2018 22:01

I prefer Carolyn, just putting that out there. I like Rosie too or Rose or Rosa. Boys names I love Sebastian, cash, sid, cathal (Irish pronounced kah-Hill).

DramaAlpaca · 17/08/2018 22:03

Caroline for me. I like Rosie but only as a diminutive.
