used too much for girls?

Hello all! I've a little boy due in November, and my husband and I have been searching frantically for names, and we stumbled upon one we're quite fond of: Quinn. Although we've noticed Quinn has been used on girls much more these days--some opinions would be nice!
Thanks!

Really like that for a boy x

StarfishSandwich · 17/08/2018 17:25

If I heard it at the park, I’d probably assume they were calling a girl but I do actually prefer it for a boy!

BackforGood · 17/08/2018 17:26

I'm not fond of names that you don't know what sex the child is, when you read it on a list.
There was a 'Quinn' (Quin?) in Glee who was female and that's the only 'character' I'm aware of in recent years.
So, I'm not keen myself.

MrsMozart · 17/08/2018 17:27

I think boy when I hear it.

Nice name.

AuntieStella · 17/08/2018 17:27

Quinn is definitely a boys name to me.

It's not one I particularly like, though (because double 'nn' looks too much like 'm''). Although quim is an older term and less common now than fanny, it's the same thing.

mintich · 17/08/2018 17:28

I thought boy when I read it. I like it!

Icklepup · 17/08/2018 17:42

I like it for a boy.

SummerLoving1 · 17/08/2018 17:44

I'd automatically think boy

Maireadd · 17/08/2018 17:55

It’s more boy to me. Love it!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 17/08/2018 17:56

I only know one Quinn and he’s a he. A big burly bearded Scotsman.

Sophronia · 17/08/2018 17:59

I think it’s fine for a boy.

bridgetreilly · 17/08/2018 18:14

I'd assume boy. I also know a boy Cuinn, pronounced the same as Quinn.

Gazelda · 17/08/2018 18:20

Quinn = boy to me.

TallSlutNoPantiesthe2nd · 17/08/2018 19:04

The slightly posh chap from the shutupandsitdown boardgame reviews is called Quintin, if that's any help..

KellyBailey · 17/08/2018 19:05

It's a girl's name to me, I only know female Quinns.

BossWitch · 17/08/2018 19:14

Girl's name to me too.

MorrisDancingViv · 17/08/2018 20:38

According to Dark Greener website (which uses the Ons records of birth) Quinn is marginally more popular for boys.

Justanotherchange · 17/08/2018 20:43

Quinn the Eskimo. It sounds more male than female to me. Lovely name

FlippertyJibbet88 · 17/08/2018 21:22

Boys name to me. Love it! I was desperate for Quintus if we'd had a boy (Quinn for short ofc). But we've got two girls Grin

pipilangstrumpf · 17/08/2018 21:38

Definitely a boy's name!

It sounds strong and masculine like Finn or Flynn. Q is a cool initial!

pipilangstrumpf · 17/08/2018 21:39

Yes, used more often for boys than girls according to the statistics. Great choice, op.

TaMamaiSaChistinAgusSanOifig · 17/08/2018 21:40

Reminds me of supermarkets.

Quinnsworth. Superquinn.

But if you're going to use it, it feels like a boys name.

I like Wynne for a girl though .

ThursdayLastWeek · 17/08/2018 21:40

Girl from Glee, Peter Quinn from Homeland.

pipilangstrumpf · 17/08/2018 21:45

It's often a nickname for Quentin so boy.

berylmeryl · 17/08/2018 21:52

There’s a Quinn (female) in Scandal. Reads too much like quim for me
