Are the names Daniel and Declan for babies now? In your area, if you don't mind exposing your location please? 😊

I'm in West Yorkshire and I don't know any babies with either of those names.

(I know you didn't ask for opinions but I really like both names)

TenThousandSpoons · 16/08/2018 22:01

South east and I don’t know any children called Declan.
Daniel is more popular (2 in DS’s class, know of about 5 more in school), but no recent babies.

Sessy19 · 16/08/2018 22:03

Thanks MrsE! 😊

My OH and I have MASSIVELY different tastes and these are two names we are both ok with😁

My stipulation on any name would be its popularity, because I was one of several same-names at school, and I didn't care for it. But OH won't come on board with any 'out there' names I've tried with him so far (I'm Danish too...!)

Norfolk and I don’t know any babies or children with those names.

Coey2016 · 16/08/2018 22:07

South east - quite a few Daniels, no Declans

pinkhorse · 16/08/2018 22:09

Norfolk and I know one Declan (primary school age)

DC2018 · 16/08/2018 22:38

West of Scotland. There's more Declan than Daniels here but both names are fairly uncommon compared to others x

DC2018 · 16/08/2018 22:39

And the Declans and Daniel I am thinking of are over 15 years old x

Nogodsnomasters · 16/08/2018 22:51

Northern Ireland and I don't know any babies called Daniel, declan a bit more popular here as well as the Irish version of it.

Greeneyedgeek83 · 16/08/2018 22:52

Midlands. Two daniels on my street alone and never met a Declan

Moonflower12 · 16/08/2018 23:10

West Midlands. I only know adult Daniels and no Declan's.

thatshabbychick · 17/08/2018 07:52

I live in Essex. My husbands cousin (who is 24 years old) is called Declan. He's the only one I know of though x

pipilangstrumpf · 17/08/2018 08:16

Daniel is very common, Declan less so.

AtticaRose · 17/08/2018 08:24

South East / South West.

I know lots of adult Daniels, 30-60, but no children.

I don't think I know any Declans, as it happens.

Personally I think I'd go for Declan, if I had to pick, on the basis that it feels less dated to me.

AnyaMoondial · 17/08/2018 09:44

I know one of each. They are both about 5 years old.

dinosaurkisses · 17/08/2018 09:50

Northern Ireland

Daniel is very popular because it’s a nice traditional name with plenty of nicknames- there was 2 in my coffee morning group for new mums this year.

Declan- I don’t know any under 25. It feels a bit dated to me.

Sessy19 · 17/08/2018 12:39

Thanks for opinions and comments so far.

Whether they’re dated names or not doesn’t really matter in my mind, since they are going to be attached to an actual person.

MrsGsnow18 · 18/08/2018 21:07

N. Ireland
Know a few Daniels ranging from 2-10. I think it's a lovely name.
