Arguments about boys names!

So we have found out that we are having a little boy. I'm very excited but now the other half and I can't decide on names.

Originally we liked Max but as baby will be taking my second name (Steele) we thought it would be a bit odd as there is a kids superhero called Max Steele.

I now really like Lawrence with a view to calling him Laurie like from Little women.

Here is our list

Max
Seb
Joshua
Joseph (joe)
Zachary (Zak)
Ivan
Elliot
Oscar
Lawrence (Laurie)

What does everyone think? Any favourites?

Love Ivan and Lawrence!

Dislike Seb

Lewis101145 · 15/08/2018 08:26

Love love love Laurie 😍👏🏼

Quangot · 15/08/2018 08:27

Zachary and Joseph are my favourites and would go well with Steele.

ReginaPhalange89 · 15/08/2018 08:46

Really nice list ! The only one I dont like is Ivan. They actually all go really nicely with the surname !

I think my favourite is Elliot or Joshua. Although Zachary Steele has such a nice ring to it. Lawrence/Laurie is really cute too so if that's your favourite go with that! It's so hard to choose haha.

I love your list, apart from Oscar and Ivan.

Would you consider Evan instead of Ivan?

Laurie is lovely!

Sophronia · 15/08/2018 13:31

Definitely Lawrence!

Isawthelight · 15/08/2018 13:42

Lawrence is great. I prefer Evan over Ivan too.

Icklepup · 15/08/2018 14:57

I like Elliot.

TatianaLarina · 15/08/2018 15:42

Laurence or Zachary Steele sound extremely distinguished.

I really like Lawrence, and I like Ivan as well - but maybe that's a bit odd if you've no Russian connections. I'm not keen on Seb.

DC2018 · 15/08/2018 16:15

I like Oscar best from your list. Oscar Steele flows really well. I really like Joseph as well. Joey is an adorable nickname x

AnyaMoondial · 15/08/2018 19:36

Really like Ivan and Laurence. Joseph is good too.

Pudding01 · 15/08/2018 19:42

Zachary Steele sounds really cool

Thesearmsofmine · 15/08/2018 19:44

I love Lawrence. I have a Sebastian so obviously I love that too but I would use the full name instead of Seb, Sebastian Steele sounds quite cool!

itsoknottobeokok · 15/08/2018 20:01

Please don't call him I Steele (Ivan)

firsttime17 · 15/08/2018 20:05

My favourites are Max, Joseph and Zachary... all nice strong names! X

Picknickers · 15/08/2018 22:46

Really great list. I love all of your names but Joseph is my favourite. Joe Steele. Super cool.

CaitlinsYellowSocks · 16/08/2018 03:19

I really like your list. I think my favourites are Sebastian (full name with Seb as a nickname) - Zachary and Elliott, but I also really like Lawrence/Laurie which is on our shortlist as well. How do you feel about other shortenings, though? DH is convinced that most Lawrences end up being called Larry rather than Laurie.

One reservation about Joseph - which is otherwise a lovely name - is the similarity between Joseph Steele and Joseph Stalin (I think Stalin actually means "man of steel" in Russian).

Twelve8Ts · 16/08/2018 15:49

Love Laurie, work with a very cool (and handsome) one!

lennyisnuts · 16/08/2018 16:24

Thanks everyone for your opinions! I really love Laurie so it's the front runner at the minute for me but I change my mind like the wind changes direction these days so we will see when little man has arrived!

Laurence Steele sounds like a friend of James Bond. It’s ace.

pipilangstrumpf · 16/08/2018 17:57

But Laurence Steele sounds like Lauren Steele because the s sounds run together

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 16/08/2018 17:58

Joshua Steele.

OutPinked · 17/08/2018 11:25

Ivan and Laurence are great. I don’t like Seb but Sebastian is lovely.
