Too similar?

We already have an Evie and am having another little girl. DH loves he name Amelie. I think it's cute but think it's a bit too similar sounding to Evie.

Thoughts?

Our surname is boring English, quite masculine sounding. Think Brown, Thompson etc.

Evie and Amelie are not too similar, they’re of the same ilk and ‘go’ well together.

MorrisDancingViv · 11/08/2018 16:26

I know siblings called Amelie and Evie. On one hand I agree they are similar, but it's not one that makes me go Hmm unlike something like Nicola and Nicole.

We're also thinking of possibly Emilia and Elena. All about the E names at the moment! Only name on the short list that's not an E name is Freya and even that's heavy on the E and A sounds.

I think they don’t really go, but aren’t awful together if you can’t find anything else you like as much.

Cherubfish · 11/08/2018 16:38

I think they sound nice together.

Icklepup · 11/08/2018 17:55

I like Emilia

daisypond · 11/08/2018 19:00

I'm not keen on Amelie at all. I think it's too cutesy alongside Evie, and it's already quite dated, I'd say. Emilia and Elena are much nicer. I think Elena goes best alongside Evie. It's a nice name.

DramaAlpaca · 11/08/2018 19:01

Any of those names you've mentioned go well with Evie & are of the same type. Definitely not too similar. Just choose your favourite or pick one out of a hat Grin

Baubletrouble43 · 11/08/2018 19:03

I also know siblings called Evie and amelie and I think it's a great pairing, not too similar at all.

Quangot · 11/08/2018 19:50

No, they're not too similar.

AtticaRose · 11/08/2018 20:15

Really nice pair of names. All your options are lovely.

CaptainCucumber · 11/08/2018 21:17

The Evie I know has a sister called Isla

lonelyplanetmum · 12/08/2018 08:02

I know a Mia with a sister (just one year younger) called Mayia.

Hmmm no future sibling issues there at all? Hmm

So your two names are sufficiently dissimilar.

Like 👍🏻

Do names really have to go together? I only have one, so it's not something I've thought about.

I'm one of 5 and all our names end with the same sound, but with other siblings I've never given any thought to whether or not names match.

ReginaPhalange89 · 12/08/2018 08:42

I think they go nicely together . Elena is lovely too
