Henry, Harry, Freddie or Bertie?

Pls help! Our baby boy is already here and we can't decide on a name. It's causing endless of arguments. We've currently opted for Henry but neither of us seem to love it ( my husband prefers Harry and I Freddie (Frederick)). We're also considering Albert/Bertie but not sure we're brave to go with the name. Pls let me know what you think. Makes me sad that my rainbow baby (had 2 losses last year) still hasn't got name. :-( x

I love Henry. My future DS will probably be a Henry. As PP suggest Harry is a cute nickname for a little boy if you prefer. Or you could give him Albert as a middle name and call him by that then he decides when old enough? It's your decision x

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 08/08/2018 18:21

I love Harry, but it's also a nn for Henry
I like Freddie, but dislike Bertie.

HJL2506 · 08/08/2018 20:32

My friend had her baby Albert in April this year. It really suits him and couldn't imagine him called anything else. I think if you lov rit go for it. His name isn't shortened to Bertie.

mostimproved · 08/08/2018 21:35

I am a bit biased, but I have a Bertie and 7 years later I still love his name - I like how it's not a made up name but is not that common either. Although if you know anyone who can't pronounce the 't' in the middle of words properly it gets a bit annoying.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/08/2018 21:38

Bertie is adorable

Josephine82 · 09/08/2018 09:12

Thanks all. We’re going to try to nail it this weekend so any more comments are very welcome. If it was up to me it’d probably be Freddie but I know my OH isn’t that keen. Or maybe our LO will be bean forever....

Bertie I love! and Harry is nice- Harrison if you wanted it a bit different?

Josephine82 · 09/08/2018 16:06

Thanks Willowrose but a friend of mine’s got a Harrison so can’t go there I’m afraid. Thinking it’s between Henry, Freddie (if my husband let’s me) and Bertie now x

Joseph is kinda in the same genre as these names- just to throw a spanner in the works?

WillowRose79 · 09/08/2018 17:12

Which I love- otherwise keep pushing For Freddie- just keep calling him it and see if you DH starts to like it?

Josephine82 · 09/08/2018 17:35

Ha good idea. It was his favourite throughout the whole pregnancy but he’s now not feeling it...

Bertie.

I really wanted Bertie for my DS but DH vetoed it. I’m still a bit sad about it.

userabcname · 09/08/2018 19:11

Well you could go Henry with Harry as a nickname? Bertie/Albert is cute too! Sorry, I'm no help!

ShackUp · 09/08/2018 19:32

I announced that DS2 was Bertie whilst I was pushing - DH couldn't refuse!

Nopoohbear · 09/08/2018 20:01

THeyre nice but so popular at the mo (where I am anyway)- I have a 2 year old and in my local toddler groups I hear so many Freddie’s, Henrys, HarryS and Berties. I think it’s a bit like the Lisa/Sarah of the next generation

Nopoohbear · 09/08/2018 20:03

BUt out of them I like Albert/Bertie best

Josephine82 · 09/08/2018 20:33

Yeah I suspected as much nopoohbear especially with Harry. Thought Bertie would be a bit more unusual. Do you mind me asking where you are? X

I look after the most beautiful little Bernie.

I also love Henry/Harry

Really like Bertie/Albert

My husband really wanted Wilf when I was pregnant but she turned out to be a girl Smile

I'm due soon and if it's a boy we're thinking of Henry but to be shortened to Hal.

CommanderDaisy · 11/08/2018 09:02

While Bertie might be cute for a baby or a child, it is definitely not cute for an adult man.
" Bertie X will now present to us a.....". " Bertie says....". Nope, doesn't work for me.
Albie is the other main twist on Albert which is better that Bertie.
Henry has multiple options for nicknames - Harry, Hal, Haz, Hen, and it's a bit more dignified.
Freddie again is not great for an adult, though Fred is better.

My pick would be Henry.

ShackUp · 11/08/2018 10:42

'Albie is better than Bertie'.

Erm no it isn't! Bertie is a classic. Bertie Wooster is not a toddler. Also, millions of Albies popping up everywhere.

MadisonAvenue · 11/08/2018 10:50

Freddie is fantastic!

There are loads of Harrys around, there were a lot in my oldest son's year group at school (he's now 21) and we know several much younger ones. It's not a name I particularly like, simply because all of the Harrys that we know aren't very nice.

Josephine82 · 11/08/2018 11:15

Thanks all. If we go for Albert I’d definitely call him Bertie as not a fan of Albie. He could then be Albert when he’s grown up. Decision time this weekend and still not closer to decide argh. Only ruled out Harry as it’s way too popular now. X

I really don't like Albert or Bertie, sorry.
Id chose either Freddie or Harry.

Josephine82 · 14/08/2018 14:52

Hi all, can you believe that we still haven’t decided on this but need to make a final decision tonight as have to apply for passport tomorrow. Pls help! My favourite is still Freddie, but I am not sure my husband will give in... love the name Henry, but I don’t feel like that is his name. Not sure if that is just me being silly? Advice pls. This whole name saga has added so much stress. X
