As I mentioned before, my husband and I both like Linus, but it's getting some friction from the in-laws, so how does "Lionel" sound instead? We both like that name as well! Any thoughts? Thanks!

Lionel Ritchie is all I can think about lol

notnowbernadette · 07/08/2018 21:29

Personally i prefer Linus over Lionel

17caterpillars1mouse · 07/08/2018 21:36

Linus is much nicer

Don't change your name choice for your in laws they will come round to liking any name once it's associated with their grandson

Sessy19 · 07/08/2018 22:12

How do you shorten these names? Do you? Lie? Confused

RedDwarves · 07/08/2018 22:21

Prefer Linus, which I love.

I like Lionel but it does bring up two images in my mind: 1) As Time Goes By, and 2) Lionel Richie.

Also, sod your in-laws. Why are you listening to them?

DramaAlpaca · 07/08/2018 22:52

You both like Linus so go for that. It's much nicer than Lionel. Your in-laws' feelings on the matter are irrelevant.

Threeandabit · 07/08/2018 22:57

Prefer Lionel to Linus personally, but don't let the in-laws push you around. Naming your baby is one of the first decisions you'll make as parents.

They'll probably have differing opinions to you over the age you wean your dc, where you spend Christmas, dc's bedtimes, the way you discipline, choices you make for your child's education... They might as well get used to it now - and you'll feel better if you lay boundaries from the start.

Enjoy naming your little one, op! Smile Flowers

Awful. I prefer Linus to Lionel (though not keen on that either), what about Leon or Leonard?

I really wouldn’t discuss any potential names with in-laws or other family - it’s not their choice.

Quangot · 08/08/2018 17:02

I prefer Linus to Lionel.

Leo, Leonard, Lucas, Lawrence?

Quangot · 08/08/2018 17:03

(Ignore the in-laws. They named their own child(ren), now it's your turn!)

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 08/08/2018 17:59

No no no, stick with Linus, much nicer.
