My husband and I are thinking about "Linus" for our little boy--we love it so much, but in-laws aren't quite sure. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Not keen sorry

MrsRachel85 · 07/08/2018 19:54

Could be one of those old-fashioned names that is due a resurgence! There’s something about the spelling that puts me off though weirdly. Think it’s the ‘nus’! Having said that, if you both love it, go for it.

ReginaPhalange89 · 07/08/2018 19:59

Never heard it ! Sorry don't like it . Makes me think of Lice, sorry!

TwinkleMerrick · 07/08/2018 20:13

I like it, good strong name. If you like it then go for it. Sod the in laws. Grin

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/08/2018 20:15

What's it got to do with the In laws. ConfusedHmm
Your mil had her day choosing names when she had her own children.

AnyaMoondial · 07/08/2018 20:19

I like it

wizzler · 07/08/2018 20:27

I like it. I think there is an actor Linus Roache?

perpetuallybewildered · 07/08/2018 20:31

This immediately sprang to mind. I’m quite old though Grin

Were also picking names at the moment, but not telling anyone until after the birth for this exact reason. Your baby, you get to choose a name you love!

Quangot · 07/08/2018 20:32

It's fine. I do think of Charlie Brown but that isn't a negative at all.

Aprilshowersinaugust · 07/08/2018 20:32

Is your ddog called Snoopy??

Peachbubble · 07/08/2018 20:38

Quite like it, reminds me of Linus Roache too.

YannaPedrazzetti · 07/08/2018 20:48

My husband and I both like Linus, but as I mentioned, it's not a hit with the in-laws--any thoughts on Lionel? We're quite fond of that one, too!

OP posts:
DramaAlpaca · 07/08/2018 20:52

I prefer Linus to Lionel.

What you name your child is nothing to do with your in-laws. If you & your DH like it that's all that matters.

ladycarlotta · 07/08/2018 20:53

Forget the in-laws. It's not their baby and I've met so many grandparents who loathed their new grandbabies' names but soon forgot about it amid all the doting. My granddad laughed heartily when he heard my brother's name and asked what he was REALLY called. That was nearly 30 years ago and it's now in the top 20.

Linus is lovely. Not so keen on Lionel but it's not my baby.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 07/08/2018 20:54

Huge Peanuts fan here, I love it. Totally behind you...

RyvitaBrevis · 07/08/2018 21:01

I love the name Linus. Some people may not recognise it or know how to pronounce it. Does that bother you?

I also really like Lionel.

Lucylookingforhelp · 07/08/2018 21:54

Ah I love it. Was going to be baby’s name if she was a boy

bridgetreilly · 07/08/2018 22:00

I like Linus much more than Lionel. Who cares what your in-laws think? It's not their baby, it's yours.

Icklepup · 08/08/2018 12:58

I love Linus, Lionel is horrible.

HouseworkIsASin10 · 08/08/2018 13:07

Linus is better than Lionel. Really wouldn't worry about in-laws opinions. They chose their kids names, up to you to choose yours.

CakeRattleandRoll · 08/08/2018 13:44

I like Linus, reminds me of Peanuts and Linus Pauling. Definitely prefer it to Lionel.

Picknickers · 08/08/2018 23:54

Linus is good. Lionel is bad!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 09/08/2018 22:14

The thing about baby names is, tell people before = lots of opinions, tell people after baby arrive= everyone says “aww that’s nice”
Your baby call them what you wish, my aunts struggled with the name for my DD just because it wasn’t super traditional (it isn’t that wacky)

LucyFox · 09/08/2018 22:26

I like it but it will always be linked to Peanuts!
