At the moment we are thinking of either Marissa or Marianne. What do you think of either of these names & which one is better?

Thank you! X

Marianne! You don't get too many of those anymore.

sexnotgender · 05/08/2018 16:09

Both are a bit nothingy? Inoffensive but that’s about it.
Do you particularly want an M at the start or is that coincidence?

HeyDolly · 05/08/2018 16:15

I prefer Marissa.

purplehydrangea · 05/08/2018 16:16

The M is a coincidence, so we're not definitely set on an 'M' name. Just happened to like those two names. I haven't heard of many of either of those names and am keen for a name that is not too commonly used.

I like both but would choose Marianne myself.

Pompom42 · 05/08/2018 16:17

Marianne best
Marissa sounds a bit like Melissa or Marcia

Pudding01 · 05/08/2018 16:19

Marianne wins it for me 🙂 Just sounds classier x

ABitOTT · 05/08/2018 16:29

Went to school with a Marrisa. Awful girl.

Marrianne is beautiful & don't know anyone with this name to put me off it

Icklepup · 05/08/2018 16:38

Marianne

purplehydrangea · 05/08/2018 16:48

I wasn't expecting it to be so unanimous! Seems like Marianne is the favourite

Marianne is gorgeous. I think of Sense and Sensibility and Marianne Faithfull - both positive associations for me.

AtticaRose · 05/08/2018 16:55

Marianne is lovely. DH has a baby cousin called Marianne, and I immediately thought it was a wonderful name! Lovely Jane Austen character too.

Verbena87 · 05/08/2018 16:56

I know a gorgeous empathetic free-thinking good-natured Marianne, so that’s my winner too.

Maireadd · 05/08/2018 17:20

Marianne is amazing! Makes me think of the lovely Leonard Cohen song.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 05/08/2018 17:22

Marissa is beautiful.💕

PassportBridgetPants · 05/08/2018 18:10

Would you shorten them at all? The opportunity for nicknames helps me choose between names if I'm stuck.

Jillyjollyjandy · 05/08/2018 18:11

Marianne

MikeUniformMike · 05/08/2018 18:24

I prefer Marissa.

ZebraKid71 · 05/08/2018 18:30

I don't like Mariska but Marianne is gorgeous. Would have used it for dd2 but dd1 already has an "Ann" sound in her name.

The only thing that would put me off is that the only Marianne I know in real life gets called Maz.

Deadheadstickeronacadillac · 05/08/2018 18:37

Marissa, but then I love watching Michael Weatherly in Bull on TV and there is a Marissa on there and she is beautiful!

Awrite · 05/08/2018 18:39

I love Marianne.

And, there's that great Leonard Cohen song, 'So long Marianne'. Just lovely.

OhSandyBaby · 05/08/2018 18:40

I love Marianne too! Beautiful name

MerryMarigold · 05/08/2018 18:40

I have one of them!! She's named that for a specific reason but also love the name. I like your other choice too. I also was interested in Tamsin, Claudia, Kirsten and Meredith.

daisypond · 05/08/2018 18:49

Marianne by miles. But Marissa is nice too.

Snowcookie · 05/08/2018 18:49

Marissa.
