I love the sound of Zaidee but not the spelling. How about Zadie?

Love Rosalie and Ray.

Kate123cl · 02/08/2018 19:43

@ZebraKid71 I actually prefer that spelling, thank you! Ray would be after my late granddad so probably my preferred but Partner not so keen! X

userabcname · 02/08/2018 19:48

I like Rosalie best from your girls list and Tate or Freddie from the boys.

DramaAlpaca · 02/08/2018 19:49

The only names I like from either list is Rosalie, which is gorgeous & Hattie which is OK if short for something. Sorry, but I dislike all of the others & we clearly have very different taste in names so I'm not going to be much help!

WitchSharkadder · 02/08/2018 19:56

Elsie, Hattie and Rosalie are all lovely. Ray or Freddie from your boys list, the others are too surname-y for my personal tastes.

Kate123cl · 02/08/2018 20:05

All your replies are really helpful! Thank youSmile Lena would be pronounced 'Leena' I'm disappointed that Freddie is so popular! I think Ray is my favourite!

I like rosalie and have not heard it before.

NOT a criticism but you have lots of nicknames or shortened names? eg, Hattie, Winnie. Just an observation really, is this becoming more usual to name the shortened version?

WillowRose79 · 02/08/2018 20:18

Love Winnie, I like Lulu and Lula. Harlow is a girls name- my fav name for a girl out of all these names. Really don't like any of your boys names apart from Freddie- sorry sounds so harsh! Hattie is cute!

WillowRose79 · 02/08/2018 20:20

Sorry just seen Ray is after your Grandad- my grandad is also a ray- didn't even make the connection when I saw it- just too used to calling him grandad! I do know a 16 yr old called Ray and it does suit him just can't see a baby Ray?

Kate123cl · 02/08/2018 20:22

@WillowRose79 doesn't sound harsh at all!Smile I never pictured a baby Ray either lol! I'm not sure why I'm drawn to it at all!

OP posts:
Kate123cl · 02/08/2018 20:24

@fourpawswhite I'm not too sure why I've picked shortened names Grin I think it's because my name was on my birth certificate as the shortened version for Catherine and I'm quite glad! Interesting point! I think some names are just prettier as the shortened version I guess Smile

Yes makes sense. I just wondered. Like my niece is Harriet, but is Hattie! So made me think why not just Hattie I suppose.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 02/08/2018 20:30

I know a Lulu short for Louisa and also a girl called Rae which I like too.

Sassy306 · 02/08/2018 20:36

If you have a girl... Lena Rae :)

ButterflyOfFreedom · 02/08/2018 22:17

Elsie & Freddie are my favourites.

Etta
Betsy
Ettie
Beatrix
Florence
Jean

Rowan
Drake
Ronnie
Owen
Gray
Ezra

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 02/08/2018 23:05

I have a Harriet (Hattie).
I really love Lula, and Rosalie is very pretty.
No, to the others, sorry.
Ray, love this name, so very cool !
Freddie is nice also.
No to the others, sorry.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 02/08/2018 23:09

Sorry, meant to say, Harlow is a girls name, love it.😄

BurtTyrannosaurusMacklin · 02/08/2018 23:21

If it helps OP I really dislike Freddie! It is very popular, as are lots of boys names ending in -ie at the moment it seems, so you probably will get a lot of fans for it!

I like your girls list more than your boys generally: Lena, Rosalie and Zadie all good options I think. Boys names: Brodie is ok, Colby alright I suppose, not really wowed by any of them to be fair (Harlow is by far my least favourite, makes me think of the town in Essex too and I’ve never even been there!) I think, within reason, you should go with what you like and what makes you happiest so sounds like Ray should be the winner!

WoodforTrees · 02/08/2018 23:36

Rosalie - nicest
Hattie - OK but I would assume short for Harriet
Sadie is better than Zadie - underused and really pretty
Agree that Rae could work as a girl's middle name

Don't really like the boys names at all. With the exception of Freddie, they are all more common as surnames (are you from the US as I know this is an American preference)? Sorry.

Sophronia · 02/08/2018 23:42

I like Lena and Ray

haribosmarties · 02/08/2018 23:44

I like Hattie and Winnie
Ray and Brodie

manicinsomniac · 03/08/2018 00:17

Girls
Winnie - really dislike it, sorry. Don't like Winifred either.
Lena - like it. I know one whose full name is Eleanor.
Elsie - quite like it
Hattie - it's ok but I would only use it as a nn for Harriet
Rosalie - quite like it. Rosie is lovely for short
Lula - not keen. Sounds like a cross between Luna and Lola
Zaidee - never heard this but I like it a lot. Especially spelled Zadie

Boys
Brodie - love it
Ray - not keen. Sounds very old man to me
Harlow - quite like it.
Freddie - quite like it but would only use a nn for Frederick
Karson - don't like it.
Tate - not keen
Colby - like it

I would choose Zadie and Brodie
