Sophia

Quangot · 01/08/2018 17:16

I prefer Sophia.

CruCru · 01/08/2018 17:17

Sophia. Mainly because I would always pronounce it the way that you don’t want it pronounced.

CruCru · 01/08/2018 17:17

I mean I would pronounce Esme the way you don’t like.

LoveInTokyo · 01/08/2018 17:17

Sophia.

Can’t be mispronounced.

Esme

snowone · 01/08/2018 17:27

Sophia is beautiful

butlerswharf · 01/08/2018 17:34

Sophia. In my experience Esme is most often pronounced the way you don't like so there's no point calling her that.

Cucumbum · 01/08/2018 17:34

Esme, both are pretty but Sophia seems to have exploded in popularity lately, my 2 year old has onky a handful of friends but 3 are called Sophia/Sofia.

strawberrry · 01/08/2018 17:35

Esme

Sophronia · 01/08/2018 17:46

Sophia

mizu · 01/08/2018 17:50

Love both but would have to be Sophia for me. Our 2nd DD was very nearly Sophia.

UntilTheVeryEnd · 01/08/2018 17:52

Esme. Could you consider spelling it Esmae to avoid pronunciation issues?

Cosmoa · 01/08/2018 18:01

The accented é makes an 'ay' sound (so Esmé) but unfortunately most British won't know that..

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 01/08/2018 18:03

Sophia can be mispronounced. So fee a or So fi a.

But I prefer Sophia either way over Es may

MikeUniformMike · 01/08/2018 18:24

So fie a isn't a mispronunciation. It's the english pronunciation but now becoming less frequent.
Esmée is the spelling I prefer.

itsBritneyBeach · 01/08/2018 18:25

I've never heard Esme being said anything other than Es-may! It's a lovely name

Caladium · 01/08/2018 18:30

Sophia

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/08/2018 18:48

For me its all about how you are planning to pronounce it. If Esme Is Esmee then Sophia. If shes going to be Esmay. I much prefer Esme.
Hope that makes sense. That's not an insult to your intelligence, BTW
. I'm just crap at explainin things.Blush

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 01/08/2018 19:09

Sophia.

daisypond · 01/08/2018 19:35

Esmé is a boy's name. It needs to be Esmée for a girl.

DramaAlpaca · 01/08/2018 19:37

Sophia, because I'd pronounce Esme the way you don't like.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/08/2018 21:21
