Boys names that don't sound weird in my accent

30 weeks on Wednesday and I have zero boys names that I like! I already have a daughter called Charlotte so I reckon the name needs to be along the more normal line.

We are from Belfast and I find a lot of names just sound weird in our accent. Also no Irish names please as they wouldn't be common where I live and I'm not really a fan!

I have NI friends called:

David
Alan
Owen

All sound fine! Are there particular sounds you'd like to try to avoid? I guess an -or- sound is a bit different in your accent maybe?

I’m from Belfast and apart from Howard or Aaron I can’t really think of any other names that sound bad with our accent.

Toby, Adam?

I'm from Belfast and off the top of my head DS's knows boys with these names

Patrick, Sam, Ryan, Lucas, Archie, Andrew, Adam, Luke, Alan, Ben, lots of biblical style names like Jonah, Daniel.

I used the can I bellow it across a playground without it sounding bad test Grin

I have NI friends called Simon, Tom (Thomas) and Stephen. I think their names sound good in their accents.

If your accent is broad some names do sound wierd, I knew of a Tamara Knight Shock

Oh I love James in a Belfast accent!

John is another nice one. Andrew, Jamie, Mark, Matthew all sound nice too (BILs parents live on the Shankill Road and he has lots of cousins)

DwangelaForever · 29/07/2018 10:03

@YeTalkShiteHen I live near there Grin so you can imagine my accent hahah.

Thanks everyone, why is baby naming so hard without having to worry about accents on top Sad

My Belfast friends were Mark Michael Simon and Gary (not sure that last one is ready for a come back but maybe?)

I love an NI accent. I have two colleagues from NI, and I could listen to the talk all day... sigh.

Charlotte is a lovely name, and goes with lots of boys names easily.
