my son is due in 8 weeks time and I think I've finally settled on a name that I love! which is Blake! however I'm struggling a little bit on middle names .. my dad is named Steven and I really wanted to use his name as blake's middle name , however I don't know if it flows right? does it , or should I consider something else? Please leave suggestions! Smile

How many syllables in your surname?

kaylanelson · 26/07/2018 21:50

@WinkyisbackontheButterBeer my surname is two syllables 😄

As long as you don't have a sibling called Avon, or possibly Servalan.

kaylanelson · 26/07/2018 21:58

I quite like how Blake Jasper sounds but I would really love to honour my dad in my sons name and his first grandson, I'm so stuck on what to do😂😭

Seven Wink

kenandbarbie · 26/07/2018 21:59

Yeah reminds me too much of Blake seven too. But I'm old.

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 26/07/2018 22:00

I think Blake Steven will go well with a two syllable surname.
I have only ever taught one Blake. He was a lovely little boy and will be about 16 now -god I am getting old-

kaylanelson · 26/07/2018 22:00

What is Blake seven if you don't mind me asking? 😯

‘What’ is Blake Seven.....I feel old!!! 😩

DramaAlpaca · 26/07/2018 22:02

Blake Steven makes me think of Blake's Seven. Maybe spell it Stephen so it looks less like seven?

But I do like Blake, it's one of the few surname as first names that I like. Probably because DS is friends with a very cool Blake.

kaylanelson · 26/07/2018 22:03

TroubledLichen · 26/07/2018 22:03

The only Blake I’ve ever heard of is Shelton (he’s an American country music star). It’s not really my taste but I’ve heard a hell of a lot worse and I think it’s fine with Stephen.

DramaAlpaca · 26/07/2018 22:04

Blake's Seven was a cult sci-fi series back in the day I am old

kaylanelson · 26/07/2018 22:04

@DramaAlpaca if I was going to use my dads name I would want it to be spelt how his is but thank you for the suggestion 😄 x

Blake seven doesn't really bother me then as long as it was nothing like a pornnnoo 😂😂

Love the name Blake!

Could you do 2 middle names? Wish I'd done that with my daughter I always regret missing out one particular name I love

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 26/07/2018 22:10

I wouldn't do Blake Seven.

I'm related to a Blake; they were not born when Blake Seven was around - and are not very old now - but it gets mentioned all the time; and that's without a word similar to Seven being in the name!

I'd do Blake Jasper or something; and honour your dad another way. Or call him something else Steven. Jasper Steven? Just not Blake and Steven together.

kaylanelson · 26/07/2018 22:13

what about 'Blake Jasper Steven (surname)' or is that too much? 💙
