Help Me Narrow My List Down!

hockeymumma101 · 25/07/2018 15:39

I'm looking to narrow this list down a little bit, as it's currently sitting at about 35 names. I'd love some feedback on these, with how wearable/usable they are.

Our surname is two syllables long, if that affects anything, and we'd prefer for the name to work in English and German if we can, but it's not a top priority for us (S/O may be transferred to Germany for work but it's not definite, it's more of an if right now).

Here is our list;

Daisy
Matilda
Hattie
Lillian
Elsie
Millie
Clara (we pronounce it Claire-ah)
Florence
Alice
Beatrice
Rosie
Ruby
Eleanor
Eloise
Martha
Libby
Betsy
Marnie
Molly
Alexandria
Gracie
Natalie
Lily
Sophie
Audrey
Ellie
Violet
Poppy
Evie
Scarlett
Evelyn
Lucy
Felicity
Maisie
Stella
Nora

Thank you for any feedback, it's appreciated!

Alice, Eleanor or Rosie for me. Possibly Alexandria, but it depends how much you like the nn for it, I'm not overly keen on Alex for a girl.

Pemba · 25/07/2018 15:48

Glad to see that you pronounce Clara as 'Clair-a' my favourite way, and how it always used to be said in the UK before the current wave of popularity (and Doctor Who!) made everyone say Klah-ra. I think Clair-a has a softer sound. But you mention a German connection? I always thought the German way to say it would be klah-ra, was I wrong about this then?

I like most of your names. Not sure if Poppy works in Europe. Hattie, Gracie and Ellie are cute but sound like they should be short for Harriet, Grace and Eleanor (or another 'El' name). And Libby for Elizabeth (or maybe Liberty?). Daisy, Alice, Sophie and Stella are gorgeous.

Pemba · 25/07/2018 15:49

And Florence and Elsie are a bit too 'old lady' for me. I like Flora and Elise, or Elspeth.

LemonBreeland · 25/07/2018 15:52

Beatrice, Audrey and Daisy are my faves. Great list!

Baubletrouble43 · 25/07/2018 19:55

Go for Nora. I wish I'd used it for one of my 3dds as it's beautiful and I had a wonderful great aunt with that name. Really kicking myself for not using it, was actually thinking of going back to registry to shoehorn it in as an extra middle name for one of my 19mo twins just yesterday! Still considering it.

DelphiniumBlue · 25/07/2018 23:33

Felicity nn Fliss is nice. I also like Felice or Felicia.
Elizabeth would give lots of choice for nicknames, and you could wait and see what works for your daughter - could be Libby or Betsy, or something else( Beth, Eliza, Mozzie, Lisa, Ellie.)

DelphiniumBlue · 25/07/2018 23:34

Mozzie?? How did that get there? I meant Lizzie!

firstworldproblems2018 · 26/07/2018 00:50

I like a lot of these! My top 5 would be Matilda, Ruby, Eleanor, Sophie and Eloise

moredoll · 26/07/2018 01:24
