Is Evalina/Evelina pretty and a bit mystical sounding, or slightly twee and a bit sickly? I honestly can't decide. Also, which spelling do you prefer?

Thank you!

Sorry I think it's terrible. I don't like anything with "Lina" at the end.

kitbabingley · 15/07/2018 14:34

It would just make me think of the hospital.

Pudding01 · 15/07/2018 14:36

How are you pronouncing them? X

itsnosoap · 15/07/2018 14:37

I'd pronounce it Ever-leena.

Hospital? Why?

I think the first spelling would be easier for people to pronounce it how you like it 🙂 As they may put too much emphasis on the second e in the other spelling... But I imagine she would need to spell it out for most people anyway x

I think Evelina is the name of SJ Strum's daughter on YouTube - she has a lot of content about baby names so may be worth watching a few of those to see if you like it said out loud. I think it's pretty. Not sure what a good nn would be though? Lina?

blackbirdbluebottle · 15/07/2018 14:47

Eva lovely evalina just plain weird and horrible sounding :/

IggyAce · 15/07/2018 14:50

Sorry not a fan. How about Evangeline.

itsnosoap · 15/07/2018 14:50

Thank you all, I think I'm definitely leaning more towards no now! I have never heard of S J Strum but will check it out, thanks.

Not keen on Evangeline as it makes me think of evangelical, but thank you.

Hospital for me too, sorry (Evelina London children's hospital).

itsnosoap · 15/07/2018 14:53

Lina is pretty though, maybe just that....

Thank you Pudding01, that's a good point.

Pudding01 · 15/07/2018 14:57

Lina is different, but not too try hard 🙂

Similar names are Lana, Lara & Luna x

itsnosoap · 15/07/2018 15:00

I didn't know about the hospital, it's definitely off the list now.

They are all really pretty, thank you Pudding01!

Yep, hospital.

Shame, though, it’s pretty.

DeckSofa · 15/07/2018 15:38

I think Evelina is a lovely name and haven't heard of the hospital.

wowsaidtheowl · 15/07/2018 15:39

I know an Ewelina. She’s lovely and so is the name. It’s Polish so pronounced with a v sound rather than a W.

DanielCraigsUnderpants · 15/07/2018 15:40

I'm surprised at the number of no's. I think it's lovely. Never heard of the hospital connection either

TenThousandSpoons · 15/07/2018 16:56

Children’s hospital for me too and probably for anyone in London.

daisypond · 15/07/2018 17:57

Hospital is the only thing I think of.

Picknickers · 16/07/2018 00:23

Glad it's off your list. I immediately read it as Evil Ena! Lena is much better IMO.

Forfolkssake · 16/07/2018 00:25

I think it's pretty and I'd never heard of the hospital.

bathildab · 16/07/2018 00:42

Hospital.

RavenWings · 16/07/2018 00:50

It'd be just another one of the gazillion little girls named Eva (or a variation) imo.
