Do we like this or still too old fashioned? I don't like Juliet at all though

Its ok, definitely better than a lot of the in names now and I think it could come back. I'm a teacher and know of a few Julias in primary school now.

I don't like Jools or Julie though so you would need to be ok with those nns.

RavenWings · 13/07/2018 12:57

Edit to add: I don't think it stands out as especially old fashioned.

MikeUniformMike · 13/07/2018 13:02

I know lots of Julias. I much prefer it to Juliet because I don't like it when people say Julie Ette. I dislike Jules and Jools.
I'd say it was a classic name along the lines of Emma and Laura.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/07/2018 13:08

I don't think it's old-fashioned. It was never massively popular. I was born in the early 60s and it's my impression there were a lot more Julies than Julias when I was growing up, although I did have one Julia in my year. Juliet/tte even less common then.

I quite like it. It's not my favourite name but it's fine.

BlueChampagne · 13/07/2018 13:14

I wouldn't say it was old fashioned. Go for it!

BikeRunSki · 13/07/2018 13:17

Beautiful classic, and my best friend ever.

NewSense · 13/07/2018 13:18

I love it! It would have been near the top of my list had it not broken one of my "rules" by beginning with J... (I have weird rules!). If I didn't already have a "J" child, I'd have most likely used Julia.

I think it ticks so many boxes. It's a real name, it's easy to pronounce, it's pretty but not fussy...

I vote go for it!

daisypond · 13/07/2018 13:53

Lovely name. I don't think it's old-fashioned. It's classic.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 13/07/2018 14:52

I think Julie is due a come back soon. Start the trend Grin

user1499786242 · 13/07/2018 15:45

I adore this name
Probably because it's my best friends name and she's wonderful

😍

TatianaLarina · 13/07/2018 17:40

Awful.

QuinquiremeOfNineveh · 13/07/2018 17:45

Elegant and classic. I like it much better than Julie. Her friends might call her Jools, but whatever name you choose, you can't control what her friends call her once she starts school.

fearfultrill · 13/07/2018 17:46

I don't like it at all. I put it in the same sort of box as Sharon and Maureen.

ReevaDiva · 13/07/2018 17:51

I think it's lovely!

auntyflonono · 13/07/2018 18:07

Lovely. I put it in the category of Roman names, like Lydia.

DramaAlpaca · 13/07/2018 18:09

It's a gorgeous name, classy & elegant.

Lovely name. Nothing like Sharon or Maureen. And much better than Julie or Juliet.

Go for it!

bridgetreilly · 13/07/2018 22:12

Julia is my 'awful girls at school' name, so I'd never use it. But I think it's fine if you aren't me!

Julianne is another alternative, maybe?

squaresandsquares · 13/07/2018 22:12

Love it

vampirethriller · 14/07/2018 08:18

It's my favourite!

Pemba · 14/07/2018 14:37

Very classic, it's nice and quite unusual these days.

Hmm at the person who 'puts it in the same box as Sharon and Maureen' (!) How very strange. It's an upper class name, if anything.

MikeUniformMike · 14/07/2018 15:00

I like Sharon and Maureen. Julia actually seems a breath of fresh air compared with the names that are currently all the rage.
The names seem to be cutesy baby names at the moment not ones that would be suitable for adults.

MariaMadita · 14/07/2018 15:26

Julia is a great name :)!

It's classic, versatile, feminine (instead of cutesy...) and rather international.

Itchytights · 14/07/2018 15:28

Very classIf and elegant

You could choose a lot worse....

Go for it!
