Lily is a lovely name. Doesn’t matter if it’s over used. If you love it. That’s all that matters.

Needlemaker · 13/07/2018 11:09

One of mine is a Lily I only know of 3 others two are 10+ years older and one is her godfathers daughter who is 3 years younger depends on where you are I suppose as to how popular it is

keepingbees · 13/07/2018 11:17

Although it's popular I don't know of any. I think it's a timeless name

MissMoodyMoo · 13/07/2018 11:20

I also like the name Fairlie
Which is a Scottish village near the coast but it's the name of girl i use to be friends with it didn't really end sour i think we just grew apart but I've always loved the name! I just don't want people thinking I named the baby after her 🤔

I know a few named Lily in their 20s, no younger ones at all where I am - it's like it's been and gone here (London). But it's a very nice name and I think it's a classic, so you can't go wrong with it. Or you could consider Lilian or Lilias for variations on the same theme. Not heard of Lilidh, but that looks good too.

florascotia2 · 13/07/2018 12:47

Genuine question - where are you getting the 'Lilidh' from? I'm not saying it's wrong but at first glance it looks like a mixture of an English beginning and a Gaelic-sounding ending. The more usual/traditional Gaelic spelling is 'Lili'. A related Scottish name is 'Lilias', usually said to be the Scots version of Lilian.

Just as a curiosity, here are some really old Scottish names for girls heraldry.sca.org/names/scottishfem.html

I do think it's a bit bland and overused, yes. But it's a nice name.

firsttime17 · 13/07/2018 13:08

Such a pretty name! Aslong as you love the name who cares if it's over used or too popular... everyone will have an opinion on whatever name you decide on so make sure you and DP love it:) xx

TatianaLarina · 13/07/2018 17:42

Soooo overused

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 13/07/2018 17:53

So many about. It's ok I guess but very boring now.

MikeUniformMike · 13/07/2018 19:00

Pretty but overused. Lots of Lilys in their 20s so will be seen as a Mum's name. I don't like Lil.
There are thousands of names to choose from so it seems a bit of an uninspired choice.
I don't like Fairlie much. If you like Scottish names, why not pick one of those. There are some beautiful ones.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 13/07/2018 20:38

❤️ Lily.

I think flower names are classics for girls. If you love it use it.
