Would this be weird?

Have a DD and now pregnant again. Not finding out the sex.

DD's middle name is Isobel. If baby is also a girl I would like to honour fan in members by using an Ann name in the middle. However the one I love is Annabel.

Would it be too weird having 2 DD's with mn's Isobel and Annabel or does it not matter as they are only middle names

It doesn't matter-but what is a bit wierd (imho) is honouring someone by using a completely different name.........

Not at all. Two of my cousins both have the same middle name as their grandfather passed away before they were born so they both have Joseph as a middle name. Nobody in our family even thought twice about it.

They are both beautiful names. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I think if you honour somebody you should use the same name otherwise it is a bit of an insult, but I think you could get away with Annabel for Ann. I'm not keen on Ann as a middle name although I really like it as a first name.
I also think you can get away with some different forms of the same name, but generally, stick to the same name.

I didnt think Annabel was that dissimilar to Ann since it starts with Ann

As I posted, I think it's fine. Mainly cos I don't like Ann as a middle name - I do like Ann as a name but I know so many Something Anns. I feel the same way about Jane too. Love it as a name but so boring as a middle name. Apologies if it's your mn.
You get threads on here along the lines of We want to honour Dad, who was called Colin so we thought we'd have Charles as a middle name, or honour my Nan Annie so we're going to use Amanda as a mn. and you think ???

No not at all, I think it’s nice and is a cute link between possible sisters.

FWIW I think it’s fine to use a variation to honour a family member. Much better than 47th billion David in the family

It's not that it's dissimilar, it's that it's not the name of the person you have in mind.

I think it's fine. If we ever have a girl we said we would have Annelise as a middle name to honour my mum and MIL middle names and to honour Elise. It doesn't matter that their middle names both end with the same sound/rhyme.

Isobel and Annabel are fine, in a matching kind of way. My sister's middle name rhymes with my middle name on purpose.

I know sister called Annabel and Isabel. Now that is odd, but no-one will remember your DD1's first names and the girls would probably love it.

You are overthinking it way too much.

It's a middle name.

But yeah why don't you just use Ann to honour the family member who was called I assume Ann? Confused

Surely an Ann would realise Annabel was an honour name? My mum called my sis a name with Ann in the middle of it to honour her mum!

Why on earth would they? And if they did, it's actually a bit of a snub. "Well, we thought the about using your name when we names our child, but we didn't like you or your name quite enough to use it......."

Or would they understand that name trends change but still think it's lovely that the new baby has a link in her name to them? Maybe it depends if the person is a glass half full type or not.

My sister called her baby Anna in honour of her partners mum Ann who passed away not one person has said why didnt you call her Ann. Everyone understands its in honour of her

I don't see what's wrong with Annabel and Isabel. Both lovely names and only odd if you call them both Bel.
Ann is a nice name too, underused and sweet. But Annabel goes with the current fancy name trend and is very pretty.

I wouldn't sweat the people saying ERRR BUT ANNABEL IS NOT ANN. The connection is clear and it's actually really nice that the two girls' mns have that link. If it feels good to you, have at it.
