Girls: Melinda, Julia, Matilda without the H, Irene, Francesca, Margot,
Eleanor, Estelle, Martha, Evelyn,
Bethany only if nickname for Elizabeth

I like Vivien and Susanna but any name about which people might often ask "which spelling?" can be a chore to have.
Same applies to Allister for boys. I know (but not very well) 3 different men with that name, all with different spellings and it took years to remember consistently which was whose.
(I think outside of Wales people usually assume Eleanor rather than Elinor by default though, don't they?)

Juliet and Aida in the same list - two tragic heroines who die
with/for lovers?

Boys: Robert, Lucas (or Luke), Reginald, Alfred, Jonathan, Alexander,
Adam, Michael, Matthew

BB2018 · 11/07/2018 17:15

Girls: Alma and Julia are my faves (DH wouldn’t let me have either of those and I think they’re both fab!). I also like Charis, Margot, Martha and Eleanor.

For the boys: Alfred, Jonathan, Matthew and Alistair (prefer this spelling)

IVflytrap · 11/07/2018 18:29

Favourites are:

Ariadne. Julia. Irene. Elodie. Vivian. Martha.

Robert. Kian. Jonathan. Asa. I also like Alasdair/Alasdair/Alistair etc. I just don't like the spelling Allister.

Susannach · 11/07/2018 19:06

Ariadne or Julia

Asa or Rafael

Love all of these!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 11/07/2018 23:02

Aurelia, Alyssa and Juliet.
Robert, Hudson, Jonathan, Adam, Matthew.

Alyssa and Hudson.

CakeRattleandRoll · 12/07/2018 05:03

Favourite: Francesca
Also like: Taryn, Margot, Aida, Martha

Favourite: Alasdair or Alistair (but not Allister, which looks like A-lister)
Also like: Robert, Rafael, Michael

lovelyjubilly · 12/07/2018 05:05

Alma or Martha.

Nolan.

Hamletina · 12/07/2018 07:54

Melinda - a little dated? Very 60s/70s
Lauretta - I don't like this, but I adore Laura, I don't think it needs 'etta' on the end, it's already beautiful
Ariadne - it's a little too 'out-there' for me
Aurelia - love it, absolutely beautiful
Alma - ok
Julia - I prefer Juliet
Alyssa - a little chavvy
Mathilda - love it, but prefer it spelt Matilda
Taryn - no
Irene - sounds lovely, but a bit of a granny name
Charis - no
Bethany - lovely
Cynthia - a little dated
Elodie - lovely
Francesca lovely
Vivian - a little too old lady, but I love the nickname ViVi - what about Violet?
Margot - love it
Aida - Ada/Aida/Ava is way too popular at the moment
Eleanor - beautiful and classic
Susanna - beautiful
Juliet - beautiful
Estelle - I prefer Estella
Martha - I love it
Lilah - prefer it spelt Lila. Or it could be short for Delilah?
Evelyn - not my cup of tea

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/07/2018 08:01

I really like:

Alyssa
Bethany
Estelle
Alma
Vivien
Martha
Francesca
Evelyn - though least fav as Evie's are everywhere

My absolute favourite is Francesca

From your boys list I like...

Lucas
Nolan
Rafael
Adam

I really like Alistair or Alasdair but not your spelling sorry

Lotsofdigestives · 12/07/2018 08:02
