Tabitha?

Does anyone have any opinions on Tabitha?
We already have a Hugo - the other names we're considering are Violet (but I think it's too popular at the moment), Delilah, Matilda and Agnes.

I love it but DH used to have a cat called Tabby so he vetoed it. To be completely honest it does sound like a cat's name but only because of the historical cat

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 10/07/2018 15:37

It's lovely. And goes perfect with Hugo.

TroubledLichen · 10/07/2018 15:40

I wanted to cal DD Tabitha (Hugo was out top pick for a boy so we obviously have similar tastes Grin) but DH said it was a cat’s name and vetoed Sad

Violet was also struck off our list due to the French/English Violet or Violette pronunciation issues but I love it. Love Tabitha more though. The only name I don’t like on your list is Agnes.

Elliebobbins · 10/07/2018 15:53

I really love this name. It is one of the only names that I have just loved immediately and have not analysed back to front. You may get some funny faces and some will say it is a cat's name but that is just because of Beatrix Potter and it really isn't that unusual. Besides some would have said the same about Felix at one point but nobody I know flinches at that name now and nobody is surprised to hear a child called Bella despite it being a popular dog's name.

HJL2506 · 10/07/2018 15:53

My mums cat isn't called Tabitha. I love Violet! It's my favourite girls name. Very pretty.

HJL2506 · 10/07/2018 15:54

is^

MollyHuaCha · 10/07/2018 16:02

I love this name. I've only known one Tabitha IRL.

TwinkleToes86 · 10/07/2018 16:07

It's awul (sorry). Really wet fish.

I would go for one of your other choices.

Andthatsthat · 10/07/2018 16:08

It does sound a bit ‘cat’ but I do like it. As a pp said, much in the same vein as Felix, which is also a great name.

Violet is lovely.
Matilda is ok. Very popular a few years ago where I am, not so heard of atm.
Agnes, no. Sounds harsh.
Delilah, no, definitely no.

beachbodyunready · 10/07/2018 16:10

It's not my favourite name especially spelt your way. Tbh it reminds me of the 1980's and not in a good way.

VickieCherry · 10/07/2018 16:16

How else do you spell Tabitha?

I love it, it's high up my list. I also love Felix. And cats :D I like Violet (also on my list), Matilda is the name of a popular children's character so I would avoid, and not keen on Agnes or Deliah.

Tabitha seems to crop up here a lot though, so it's probably going to become very popular.

LexieLulu · 10/07/2018 16:17

Only name I don't like from your list is Agnes.

I love Delilah, there is a song by the plain white t's called hey there Delilah which is one of my favourite songs, so it reminds me of that.

KirstenRaymonde · 10/07/2018 16:18

There’s no other way to spell Tabitha? Confused

I love it, it’s on my list. I like it even more for being a cats name Grin

TroubledLichen · 10/07/2018 16:33

Tabitha was spelt originally Tabatha in the tv series bewitched. Then at some point they changed it to Tabitha, maybe around the time they swapped the actor playing Darrin/Darren?! They producers were clearly early to the party for yoonique spellings!

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 10/07/2018 16:35

I don't like it, sorry! 😑

BackToTheFuschia7 · 10/07/2018 16:37

Gorgeous, and goes so well with Hugo.

KirstenRaymonde · 10/07/2018 16:38

Clearly the Bewitched writers are mad because it’s always been spelt Tabitha.

MrsMarigold · 10/07/2018 16:38

I love Tabitha, Agnes and Matilda but I'm less keen on Violet and Delilah. Strangely we used to know some sister's called Violet and Agnes.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 10/07/2018 16:40

In order of preference
Tabitha
Violet
Delilah
(To me the first 3 sound nice with Hugo)
Agnes
Matilda

lifechangesforever · 10/07/2018 16:41

That's what my mum wanted to call me but was veto'd by dad.. so they called the cat it instead.

I think it is a lovely name but will always be a cat's to me.

MorrisDancingViv · 10/07/2018 17:33

Statistically Matilda is much more popular than anything else on your shortlist (I know 3 under 7).

I like Tabitha although I also know 2 of them!

Violet is overall my favourite name.

TatianaLarina · 10/07/2018 17:38

Prefer Talitha. Also like Delilah.

Peachbubble · 10/07/2018 17:47

I love it, it's always been my favourite name. re the others on your list, I like Violet and Agnes.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 10/07/2018 17:51

Love it. I know three between 6 and 35 Grin. Perfect with Hugh.
