Unusual but not weird names

Still searching for names. We would like something that isn't popular and unlikely to be in school with another. But nothing too weird that we spend the whole time telling people how to spell it/ pronounce it etc..

Humphrey is cool. Humph. Umf. Humpty?
Tiggy could be short for Antigone or anything.
Tiggy Legge-Bourke is an Alexandra.

John is a fabulous name. I think both Janet and Susan are due a comeback - very old English names, versions of Jane and Susannah. Not sure about Kevin yet.
Tiggy can be short for Antigone.

Boy: Isaiah, Xavier, Zander, Hugo,

Girl: Delaney, Violet, Sierra (although this one makes me personally think of a certain America soda.)

I knew a Tiggy whose real name was Katrina. I also new one who was very secretive about her real name which turned to be Petunia and Tiggy was a derivation of Piggy after Petunia Pig.

tootiredtoadult · 08/07/2018 19:38

Or "Phrey" pronounced "fray" as a nn for Humphrey? X

Sophocles' tragedy Antigone is one of the greatest works of literature ever written. Nobody would ever have given her an ootsy cutesey nickname like Tiggy! Shock

daisypond · 08/07/2018 20:48

Not the original Antigone, true! But I know an Antigone with Tiggy as a nickname - because she didn't like Antigone.

Plus Ottie for nn is lovely.

How is Antigone pronounced? Anti-gone?

SeagullsStopItNow · 08/07/2018 21:04

An-tig-gon-e I think.

Marioki Clive!! That’s unpopular for a good reason Grin

MariaMadita · 08/07/2018 21:16

Ann-tig-É™-nee :)

But I've always that An-ti-gÉ™-nee would make more sense, tbh..

MikeUniformMike · 08/07/2018 22:44

Ottilie is likely to be a lot more popular than you think. God knows why. It just makes me think of Otters or Otterly Botterly. I like Tiggy as short for Tegan.
