What are you thoughts? No Scandinavian links though apart from both of us being 10% genetically Scandinavian according to DNA test of that counts...

PalePinkSwan · 30/06/2018 18:55

I like it.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 30/06/2018 18:56

Neither love it or hate it - it's inoffensive enough so use it if you like it!
(Probably not very helpful, sorry!)

HeyDolly · 30/06/2018 19:28

I quite like it. Prefer Torin though.

Abetes · 30/06/2018 19:32

I’m sorry but I don’t like it.

Sophronia · 30/06/2018 19:33

I prefer Torin too.

Zampa · 30/06/2018 19:35

I wanted to call my son Torbjörn - it means Thunder Bear - but we had a girl! Torben is probably a more sensible option. I like it.

llangennith · 30/06/2018 20:04

Good name for a chocolate bar.

Veterinari · 30/06/2018 20:17

Love it!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 30/06/2018 20:20

Love it, there a Torben in a FB group I’m in who’s lovely and helpful so associate the name with him.

KirstenRaymonde · 30/06/2018 20:20

I like it. Unusual but doesn’t sound silly or made up.

Bananalanacake · 30/06/2018 20:28

Dp works with a torben. In Germany

NancyFrank · 30/06/2018 21:24

I know two Torben's under 4 years old I do like it though

Joeybee · 30/06/2018 22:51

Don't like it at all. It sounds made up. It also sounds like a brand of paint or something. Plus it's not a familiar name in the UK do the child will constantly have to spell out his name to people.
There are some fantastic Scandi names out there, look for Scandinavian name lists, you'll probs find something similar but nicer sounding.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 30/06/2018 22:54

I prefer Thorsten

But I like this too

falaffels · 30/06/2018 22:59

I like Torbin, also Torin as mentioned by PP. Unusual, but don't sound it somehow.

It sounds like it could be English,so somehow doesn't seem weird that you don't have any Scandi links

DramaAlpaca · 30/06/2018 23:07

I like it.

Picknickers · 30/06/2018 23:13

I like it too.

SeamusMacDubh · 30/06/2018 23:16

I don't mind it but it sounds a bit GOTesque

newroundhere · 30/06/2018 23:22

Go for it OP! It's a great name not that I'm biased given DS is called Torben Grin

helporange · 30/06/2018 23:30

I’m very sorry but when I say it out loud all I think is corben !!!!

DeckSofa · 01/07/2018 00:26

I think "Corbyn" too. Torin is a nice idea.

AnnaMagnani · 01/07/2018 09:33

I like it but would absolutely assume Scandi links and think he will have a lifetime of just saying you liked the name.

Sessy19 · 06/07/2018 18:52

@AnnaMagnani And that would be an utter SACRILEGE, heaven forbid you LIKE your child’s name?!?! 😂

Abrahamkin · 06/07/2018 20:56

Well it's a Danish name and it's losing popularity there. If put the name in to see the Danish name statistics here you will see it has completely lost its popularity

Sessy19 · 06/07/2018 20:59

@Abrahamkin Only useful as a comment if the OP is Danish? It’s relevence is probably more that it’s not common on the UK, whether it’s popular elsewhere is less important, no?
