Which of these do you prefer and which work with Sebastian?

Our surname is Wheeler.

Thanks!

Jenson or Three.

MikeUniformMike · 28/06/2018 20:49

A third DS could be Lewis.

Falaffels · 28/06/2018 20:51

Love Hugh, but I'm not sure it goes with your surname? It feels too much like one word.

So second choice is Ralph

Outbackshack · 28/06/2018 20:51

Jenson..i also love Austin as a name. Would work with your surname too

SleepFreeZone · 28/06/2018 20:54

I have a Sebastian. It’s quite a pretentious sounding name so I think you’ve got to go with something that doesn’t sound too posh (unless this is what you’re going for).

Starface · 28/06/2018 20:55

Ralph or Hugh. I prefer Ralph.

AdaColeman · 28/06/2018 20:55

Rafe.

Petalflowers · 28/06/2018 20:58

Don’t like Jensen. Others are fine. Maybe Montgomery -nn Monty?

Almondbiscotti · 28/06/2018 21:09

Would also love to hear what you associate with these names too?

I get worried Ralph sounds a lot like Rolf (Harris).

Jenson I think may not last and will be like Jaxson/Harvey/Maddison and other names like that.

Hugh - I take your point Falaffels. My DH also worries with Hugh that kids will pick on DS because it sounds more like a sound than a name.

Monty - my DH and I cant agree on the long derivative of the name - I cant stop thinking of Montgomery Burns from the Simpsons so I would prefer Montague. Any thoughts?

Wtaf.

Hugh by far and it goes with Sebastian the best.

itssquidstella · 28/06/2018 21:15

I like Monty best but would put Montague or Montgomery on the birth certificate.

Ralph and Hugh are quite nice.

I don't think Jenson really goes with Sebastian.

Peachbubble · 28/06/2018 21:17

What about Hugo, if you're not sure about Hugh?

JessambardKingdomBrunel · 28/06/2018 21:18

Ralph. Great name.

Jensen sounds chavvy and doesn't match Sebastian.

Hugh I like only if it's short for Hugo.

Monty is far too public school.

LadyFilthPacquet · 28/06/2018 21:19

Not Jenson/Jensen.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 28/06/2018 21:19

Hugh or Hugo tbh.

To me, Monty sounds pretentious, and as you said, Jenson a bit 'of the minute', and Ralph sounds like someone puking / Rolf harris.

Cadencia · 28/06/2018 21:21

How about Anthony? I think it goes well with Sebastian and your surname.

RavenWings · 28/06/2018 21:22

Ralph - very wet sounding imo

Monty - not against it, but would use a full name on the BC. I think I'd lean towards Montague if the Mr Burns association is too much, though I prefer Montgomery .

Jenson - I like this a lot, but I see what you mean re:faddiness.

Hugh - absolute no, horrible name imo.

I think I'd go for Jenson, second choice Monty.

ThePug · 28/06/2018 21:25

I have a Ralph (and currently thinking up names for DS2 due in August!) and nobody has ever had anything but nice things to say about his name Smile We also haven't met another one (yet!) on the baby/toddler group/nursery circuit.

Jensen I agree will date and is a lot more 'current' than your other options. Hugo sounds better with your surname than Hugh I think. Monty is nice but I think needs a fuller name with Monty as NN.

mammmamia · 28/06/2018 21:27

Is it Ralph or Rafe as the latter is so much nicer.

firsttime17 · 28/06/2018 21:27

My 6 month old DS is Jenson and I love the name obviously but I think Hugh goes with Sebastian the bestSmilex

TatianaLarina · 28/06/2018 21:27

Monty is a dog.

barleyreed · 28/06/2018 21:28

Hugh!

Falaffels · 28/06/2018 21:29

Hugo?

Almondbiscotti · 28/06/2018 21:32

DH thinks Hugo sounds too pretentious yet likes Monty.

Ralph - there is also the whole Rafe vs Ralf pronunciation conundrum but this was our favourite for a while.

@cadencia don't like the nickname Tony for Anthony.

Currently swaying between Hugo for Hugh and Monty with a longer version of the name but with no idea which!
