Dutch name Fenna for a girl? Yay or nay?

Not keen. Do you have any Dutch connections? There are welsh names Menna and Wenna, if that helps.
I quite like Fenella.

Susannach · 26/06/2018 19:13

Only loose Dutch connections.

Sorry, but I like Fenna much more than Menna or Wenna!

Too close to senna for my taste (as in the laxative)

Moonkissedlegs · 26/06/2018 19:17

I agree that it sounds like some kind of herbal remedy.

peachypetite · 26/06/2018 19:17

There must be nicer Dutch names

hungryhippie · 26/06/2018 19:18

Reminded me of Senna too, sorry!

theredjellybean · 26/06/2018 19:18

sounds a bit like an abbrieviation for a 'feminine hygiene product'

Snoopysadog · 26/06/2018 19:19

Fenna us the surname if the mean prison governor in Wentworth series !

MikeUniformMike · 26/06/2018 19:19

I don't particularly like Menna or Wenna either. They're ok.
If you like Fenna then use it.

3legs · 26/06/2018 19:19

Too close to senna (laxatives) or tena (lady) for me personally.

ZolaShepherd · 26/06/2018 19:21

Another for Senna.

When I clicked on the thread on active, I didn’t know it was going to take me to the baby names board.

hotchips · 26/06/2018 19:23

I don't love it. A similar sounding name I think is prettier is Fina.

MushroomMushroom · 26/06/2018 20:36

It's my dogs name :) 🐶

AuntieStella · 26/06/2018 20:40

How about Fenella?

Fenna could be a nn

bebehen · 26/06/2018 20:55

I quite like it! It's simple and unusual :) It doesn't make me think of anything else...
If you love it, go for it :)

sexnotgender · 26/06/2018 20:56

Really not a fan.

YouStacey · 26/06/2018 20:57

Makes me think of Fenesten

SlimGin · 26/06/2018 20:57

I quite like it too. I know a fenny, which imo sounds much ruder. Fenna reminds me of 'forna'

Susannach · 26/06/2018 21:02

Blush None of these associations had occurred to me! Good thing I asked on here. Never heard of Senna personally but it seems lots have!

I think in the U.K., people will assume that it's a name where you can't tell if it's a first name or surname like McKenzie and assume it's spelled Fenner.

LoveInTokyo · 26/06/2018 21:07

I was going to say it sounds a bit herbal/medicinal.

MemoriesOfAnotherFuture · 26/06/2018 21:07

There’s an Icelandic name Finna

MariaMadita · 26/06/2018 21:09

Like a fen (Fenn in German, so the association is pretty strong for me personally)?

It's a really beautiful (and slightly romantic) association imo... I really like this name :) Fenella is also nice.

Susannach · 26/06/2018 21:13

Maria Yes, that’s what I think of too.

I like it, also like the Scandinavian Finns
