Hi all,
After months and months (and months) of going backwards and forwards I'm still stuck between Barney and Casper.
If (and only if) you like the names, please could you let me know which you prefer.
I'm a bit in love with both names.
Thanks all Smile

Casper for sure. Barney is a bit too cutesy.

Daphnedolittle · 25/06/2018 20:55

I love Barney so much! I like Casper too but Barney would be my number one choice if we had another DS.
I've known 2 adult Barneys so don't see it as cutesy. It's a friendly name on an adult and adorable on a little one.

HeyDolly · 25/06/2018 20:59

Barney.

Barney if you must, although I hear barney and immediately think dinosaur. I don’t like Casper unless you’re naming a friendly ghost.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/06/2018 21:01

Barney.

Peanutbuttercups21 · 25/06/2018 21:01

Casper

Therealpallini · 25/06/2018 21:04

Barney

Susannach · 25/06/2018 21:07

Casper!

JessambardKingdomBrunel · 25/06/2018 21:20

Can you imagine a middle aged man called Barney?

I'm trying to imagine a 50 year old plumber or solicitor or whatever called Barney, and I just can't.
It's a cutesy name that will be cute on a toddler or a little old man, but horrendous in the years in between.

Is there anything you like that it could be short for?

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 25/06/2018 21:21

Casper nn Cass.

Orangedaisy · 25/06/2018 21:21

Agree, it depends if you want to call your child after a dinosaur or a ghost Grin

littlemissalwaystired · 25/06/2018 21:22

I know a middle-aged doctor called Barney. Works for him.

17caterpillars1mouse · 25/06/2018 21:22

Love Barney though I would prefer it as a nn for Barnabas or Barnaby.

PixelAteMe · 25/06/2018 21:24

Barnaby

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 25/06/2018 21:27

Come to Ireland, we're inundated with middle-aged barneys

BewareOfDragons · 25/06/2018 21:28

Neither.

Sorry. I think purple dinosaur or Barney Rubble (flinstones)

Casper the friendly ghost, cartoonish

TimesNewRoman · 25/06/2018 21:29

Casper is very cool! Cas for short. Love it.

GreyGardens88 · 25/06/2018 21:30

I think they both sound like dogs names

OhTheRoses · 25/06/2018 21:31

Well as mothef to a something Caspar because he was born on Christmas day I think itnhas to be Barnaby or Barnabas, nn Barney.

Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar were the three wise men so on that basis Caspar isn't appropriate forba summer baby. Itbis however a marvellous name Wink

Discotits · 25/06/2018 21:33

Casper

Discotits · 25/06/2018 21:33

I’m thinking of calling my son Jasper.
