Please help me decide!

Already have an Arthur and due baby girl soon. I love the name Aria, but i'm worried that it's too similar to Arthur! What do you think? Are they too similar sounding? If so, any name suggestions?! Thanks xx

I'm not keen on Aria and it does sound a bit similar. Fine if you love it, but I feel it's a name that has become popular quite suddenly and will at some point sound dated.

I don't like Aria very much. I think in terms of sound it is too similar to Arthur, but in terms of the 'style' of name it is too different - it's not a classic name.

Arthur is a royal name! Aria is a bit more faddy.

I think (old Queen) names like Matilda, Eleanor and Elizabeth go much better with Arthur.

What about Ania? V similar but not like Arthur?

Second pp above - I adore Ania, and think it goes really well Arthur.

I've not seen the name Ania before - did you mean Anya? I think Aria is a bit too airy (pun intended) and lacking in substance.

Ania is just a different spelling of Anya. Ania is more common where I live - I think it's the Polish version (and there are lots of Polish people in my area)

Ah. Ok. I'd stick with Anya. Still a bit matchy matchy.

Anya is a nicer spelling of 'Ania' which just looks weird imo.

Aria is quite similar to Arthur. Plus they'd have the same first initial which is kind of 'meh' these days.

Give her her own initial ...

My daughter’s name is Aria and she has a cousin called Arthur. I think the names sound fine together. Different no. of syllables so sound different when called out.

Aria has taken off in terms of popularity since we chose it, but it is still a beautiful name and our daughter loves it. Occasionally hear it called out when out and about but haven’t actually met any other Arias.

How do Aria and Arthur have different numbers of syllables?

I'm not keen on the name Aria or the combination. If it were me, I'd look for something which didn't begin with A.
I agree with a PP, the style of the names don't go together. There are so many lovely girls names which will go with Arthur. I'm sure there was a baby names website which suggests sibling names?

I like them both, but like a PP said they are very different styles and I personally would avoid matchy initials.

If you are pronouncing it ‘Are-ya’ then I think of that as spelled Arya, as in game of thrones, and yes that is too similar to Arthur.

We chose Aria for its musical meaning, which I’ve always heard with 3 syllables.

OP if you want to avoid same initial then I would also vote for Matilda.

I liked Aria orignally but it is far too popular these days...not just for humans but dogs too lol! I called my daughter Esme, might not be to your taste but I love it :)

Never mind where it's from. It seems to have two ways of pronunciation and maybe two ways of spelling it. I think most people would say is as Are-ya, so it's a No from me.
Ar-ee-a rounds too like Arrears for my liking.

Definitely avoid Martha with Arthur.
I wouldn’t mind two children’s names with the same initial.
Maybe Alice, Tilly, Lucy, Emily, Jane, Milly, Freya, Hope, Faith, Eliza etc.
