Grave

If you came across this name written down, would you assume it was a typo (probably for Grace if so), or would you assume that Grave is the actual name?

I think the child is a girl. Mum has provided the spelling. I’m wondering if it would be horribly rude to ask “did you mean Grace?”..... because after all there’s some very unique names around these days....

I'd check if it is Grace. Better than asking whether she has called her child after a hole that dead people go in.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/06/2018 20:43

Is the child British If she is I'm 99.99% certain it has to be a misprint. Surely not one would call their child Grave.
However if the child is not British or English speaking Grave could be a perfectly acceptable name in their culture.

daisypond · 08/06/2018 20:44

Well, V and C are next to each other on the keyboard, so it could easily be a typo. Unless it's a mashup of the trendy name Gray and a feminine name from something like Maeve or Genevieve.

Fairenuff · 08/06/2018 20:53

Why do you need to know?

TroysMammy · 08/06/2018 20:58

Perhaps it's pronounced Gra vay. Like a posh pronunciation of gravy Grin

Beansonapost · 08/06/2018 21:02

Surname?

Octopeppa · 08/06/2018 21:14

Surely it must be Grace!

SmilingButClueless · 08/06/2018 21:18

If the child’s name really is Grave, I can guarantee that you won’t be the first person to ask whether it’s actually Grace.

Haffdonga · 08/06/2018 21:26

Gray?

ColourfulOrangex · 08/06/2018 21:31

Are you making something with the name on? Maybe ask and say you just like to double check as auto correct has corrected names in the past?

I like unusual names but if the child's name is Grave I think it's a bit too far

calamariqueen · 08/06/2018 21:50

@TroysMammy Grin gra-vey has made me laugh a lot!!

It's gotta be Grace though hasn't it??

Quartz2208 · 08/06/2018 21:51

the v and c are next to each other on the keyboard so you can see how its easy to type grave rather than grace so I would assume Grace

4GreenApples · 09/06/2018 21:32

I asked the mum.

It was a typo - child is Grace, not Grave!

Lol

SequinsOnEverything · 09/06/2018 23:35

Good! I've seen plenty of names on here that I'm not keen on, but Grave would have been the worst!

ColourfulOrangex · 10/06/2018 14:28

So glad the baby wasn't called Grave! Thanks for letting us know OP
