A sister for Imogen

We just can't decide on a name we love as much, that goes well. I think Verity 'goes' the best (but not our favourite), but both dh and I really love Ottilie. But does it 'go'? Nickname would be Ottie...can you imagine a 20/30/40 year old called Ottilie?

Imogen is such a unique name to us...suits a child and adult, strong yet feminine without sounding too cutesy....

A few other options we like below, does anyone else have any suggestions?

Clara
Verity
Ottilie
Briony (dh doesn't like it but I can't seem to take it off the list)

That's it! We are a bit stuck so any suggestions welcome!

Keep Shakespearean?

Rosalind
Emilia
Juliet
Viola?

I was supposed to be called verity. I'm glad I wasn't. It's a horrible name imo. How about Imogen and....

Isobel
Charlotte
Isla
Eleanor
Eloise
Ivy

I don't like any of the names from your list, all very frilly/frumpy. Clara is the best out of the bunch though and goes best with Imogen. I like pp suggestions of Juliet, Eloise and Ivy, they're all gorgeous and sound lovely alongside Imogen.

Clara sounds nice, Ottile is just weird

Fifthtimelucky · 02/06/2018 06:18

I know an Imogen with a sister Rosalind (Shakespearean link, as suggested above).

Peachbubble · 02/06/2018 06:45

I like Clara from your list. Not keen on Verity, sorry. How about:
Georgia
Jasmine
Rosalie
Harriet
Alice
Annabel

Ivy

Beatrice?

PlumsGalore · 02/06/2018 07:11

I love Imogen, reminds me of those Jilly Cooper books. Octavia was another one. My suggestion fwiw.

I’ve known a couple of Veritys in my adult life...the connotations for me are very, well, let’s just say they were both ‘very successful’ with men. Often.

I’d say Ottilie and Imogen would ‘go’ (if that’s important) more than Imogen with Verity.

There are some very pretty suggestions for alternatives. Rosalind is my fave.

I know an Ottilie...she is never nn’d, she’s just Ottilie 😊

daisypond · 02/06/2018 09:53

I really dislike Ottilie, which I find very clumpy and ugly. The others are all fine. I like Verity the best. Clara is nice and simple, but I'm not wild about it. I rather like Briony too. Felicity? Antonia? Juliet? Madeleine?

WhereIsBlueRabbit · 02/06/2018 11:25

I like Clara, Verity and Ottilie. Personally, I'm less keen on Briony and don't feel it goes with Imogen. How about:

Esme
Emmeline
Helena

If you want a nature name, how about

Linnet
Rowan
Iris

WhereIsBlueRabbit · 02/06/2018 11:26

I think Juliet goes really well, by the way, and has a similar feel - strong, classic but not very common, suits a child or adult.

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 02/06/2018 11:36

Imogen and Vivienne.
For me, if you and your DH both love the name Ottilie, that would be the most important factor - think you might regret if you don't use it.

HeyDolly · 02/06/2018 11:45

Imogen and Phoebe
Imogen and Juliet

Bubblesoup · 07/06/2018 07:42

I'm not keen on Ottilie, sorry! And I think it would drive me mad if people pronounced it wrong/dropped the t's etc.

Imogen and.....
Marissa
Miriam
Zara
Genevieve

I like PPs suggestion of Rosalind or Juliet. And Vivienne is lovely.

For some reason "Natalie" immediately came to mind when I saw the title.
