I just love Stella and Astrid together.

Your boys' names seem to be a very different style from the girls' names Confused and several combinations are a bit of a tongue twister (all the L ones). Milo and Finn would be the best of those.

MrsHathaway · 29/05/2018 20:12

I'm assuming you know they're identical which is why it's BB or GG but can't be BG?

IWouldLikeToKnow · 29/05/2018 20:13

I would choose Matilda & Indigo and Milo & Elliot

ellastellabella · 29/05/2018 20:37

All good suggestions thank you!
Not sure what you mean by a different style- if you have any more similar in style please let me know?
Personally I enjoy names that 'go', for instance Mischa and Milo for me seem to gel quite well together.

Stella and Astrid
Astrid and Indigo

I don't like Matilda (only ever taught spectacularly bold ones) or Margo.

Mischa and Finn
Finn and Elliot
Mischa and Elliot

I don't like Ollie, it's too cutesy and Milo is a bit bleh.

TheOriginalEmu · 29/05/2018 23:45

I like Indie and Astrid. I also think Indie and Iris is pretty cool as a combo. Or Ivy.
the boys...i like Finn and Elliot. how about Finn and Seth. or Ezra.

Bubblesoup · 30/05/2018 09:39

I like Matilda but am not a huge fan of your other girls names, sorry.
Matilda and Ivy
Matilda and Hazel
Matilda and Georgia
Matilda and Harriet

I like Finn and Elliot the best out of your boys names. Ollie is nice but sooo popular.

GG

Astrid and Estelle
Stella and Selene
Indigo and Violet (you'll have a colour theme for your nursery!)

BB

Finn and Archie
Monty And Milo
Emmet and Elliot

BG

Margo and Milo
Astrid and Mischa
Eliza and Ezra

MaybeyBaybey · 30/05/2018 20:41

I don't like names that are too matchy, e.g. Margot and Milo (starting with the same letter and both ending in an o sound...) But you seem to really like alliterations and they can be really neat (imo).

G/G
Astrid and Matilda
Astraea and Margot
Madeleine and Margot
Matilda and Stella
Estelle and Margot
Mila and Margot
Malia and Margot

B/B
Elliott and Edward
Elliott and Oliver
Finn and Fred
Micah and Milo
Mis(c)ha (lovely but a bit nickname-y) and Sas(c)ha (same as Mischa imo, tbh.)
Mirko and Milan

I’ve never really understood this obsession with matchy matchy names for twins, especially if they’re identical. There’s just no need to set a couple of children up to never be acknowledged as individuals.

I’m also not sure about different ‘styles’ of names...these days, as names come in and out of favour like the British weather, there’s no such thing as a name ‘style’, that’s such a trashy way to consider naming precious bundles.

Just go with names that you like. And try to steer clear of all these lists, which have ‘inspired’ thousands to name their children EXACTLY the same as half the nursery or school yard.

ellastellabella · 30/05/2018 21:58

@Sessy19 Without meaning to be rude, what makes you think I care whether you like matchy names or not? It's my choice and I've stated that's what I like so there's really no point in commenting something vindictive like that on a thread asking for suggestions. Twins can full well have matching names and be individuals- that is determined by their upbringing not their names, and luckily I fully intend one giving them equal, individual lives. Good job they're mine not yours.

ILikeMyChickenFried · 30/05/2018 22:00

When pregnant with my twins I was advised by every twin I met (and suddenly they're everywhere!) Not to pick matchy names for them. It was the same advice over and over: don't pick matchy twin names and don't dress them the same.

MrsHathaway · 30/05/2018 22:09

Matchy matchy "Ricky and Nicky" type thing is obviously awful. But you say twins' names together a lot, so if you've got e.g. Seraphina and Ruth which sound very different and come from different cultures then they'll both feel shortchanged even though they both have great names.

Having them similar but not matchy is the sweet spot. Off the top of my head I'm thinking of sets of twins with more like a common thread:

  • uncommon Welsh names (not in Wales)
  • apostle names
  • double-barrelled

Or they're in a similar popularity bracket e.g. both top 20, or both super uncommon.

MrsMrsMrsMrs · 30/05/2018 22:11

Arlo and Amelie
Millie and Max
Alfie and Evie
Caleb and Scarlett

Maisie and Martha
Kitty and Tilly (Matilda)
Poppy and Florence
Poppy and Violet
Violet and Lydia

Archie and Stanley
Finn and Benji
Oscar and Arthur
Arlo and Flynn
Tom and Ben
Callum and Noah
Noah and Jacob
Ollie and Oscar

RedDwarves · 30/05/2018 22:17

Stella and Matilda.

Mischa and Milo.

katycb · 30/05/2018 22:17

My twins are Emily India and Sophie Marie. I'd steer clear of having them have the same initials purely for practicalities sake. They'll get things muddled up all the time as it is. Also when you are calling them in the park as the run off in different directions it is a bit easier if they sound a little different!! My choices if they were boys were Thomas and Elliot or William and Elliot...

Carouselfish · 30/05/2018 22:19

Rex and Jake
Cole and Heath
Marius and Caspar

Dita and Mira
Trixie and Lila
Sadie and Rae

Sessy19 · 30/05/2018 22:46

Goodness! I wasn’t referring to your names AT ALL actually, sorry if it came across as ‘vindictive’ (not sure that’s the context, but it’s your word, so fine!) I think the names you have are quite lovely actually. (Apart from Mischa...the actor who first portrayed Rasputin was called Mischa, but I guess not many people would make that connection at all)

I was simply suggesting you choose names that you like, and recommending, as others have, that you don’t get bent out of shape trying to match up names, I certainly didn’t intend to cause you distress.

I’m not sure if my very neutral comment is any reflection of either your, or my, ability to parent.

I’ll just take it that you got bitten by the MumsNet poison...I know it, Ive been bitten by it before. Not everyone posting here is slating you. Get a camomile tea and calm down poppet.

Sessy19 · 30/05/2018 22:49

And I meant that all the lists above (other people’s lists as suggestions) are all super common names. They’re the same lists rolled out for EVERYONES suggestions lists.

Jeez, super sensitive around here today. Is it because it’s half term???

Blueraccoon · 30/05/2018 23:15

Girls : Violet & Vivienne

Boys : 🤔

Mrsknackered · 31/05/2018 00:32

Love Astrid and Margot (this spelling)

I also really like Misxha, not so keen on Finn as a stand-alone name but do really like Finbar.

What about?
Safia
Sabine
Ariadne
Alba
Thea

Or:
Sasha
Soren
Sol (Solomon)
Asher

There wasn’t intentionally so many S names!
