Name for DD

We already have two DS's and found picking a name so easy! We like old/classic names and would like to follow this theme for our DD. She's not coming till September so plenty of time but I don't 'love' any names so far.

Shortlist so far...

Blythe (DH fave)
Grace (my fave)

Anyone any ideas?? Prefer one syllable due to an awkward surname (beginning with E)

Blythe is lovely.

Grace is also a nice name but super popular here, there's 3 in DS's class.

How about:

Merle
Tess
Belle
Lys
Hope
Nell

Thank you all. A lot of those names we've already considered Grin I loved Ada but it's very similar to DS1 name. Also like Meg but DH thinks it's too close to Meghan and the royal wedding etc.

We have settled on middle name Jean (after my DGM). I think Blythe Jean (surname) sounds lovely when I say it out loud so it may well become my fave too.

Blythe is lovely.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 28/05/2018 21:09

Blythe Harriet?

I quite like Jean as a first name!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 28/05/2018 21:10

Oh sorry ignore me, Jean is a definite mn.

atryingmama · 28/05/2018 21:19

@MrsPotts18 Grace is lovely! I find Blythe a bit to ageing myself.

TatianaLarina · 28/05/2018 21:35

Blythe.

Icantfindausername · 28/05/2018 21:55

Brooke

Dermymc · 28/05/2018 21:57

Blythe Jean doesn't sound good in my accent. It all merges and becomes blythjean.

MrsPotts18 · 28/05/2018 22:25

GreatDuck I loved the name Harriet but DH wasn't too keen.

In our accent Blythe Jean sounds quite nice, especially with our surname. The only thing that we were worried was the initials B.J. Prob being quite silly but it was the first thing a teenage relative pointed out and thought it was hilarious Confused

Blythe Jean is gorgeous!

Icantfindausername · 28/05/2018 22:49

Oh no I definitely wouldn't give the initials bj - my teachers initials were BJO and my did she get some grief for it! x

MrsCD67 · 28/05/2018 22:56

Don't like Blythe Jean. Sorry!
B J would also put me off

catalinablue · 29/05/2018 01:14

Blythe is nms, very granny-esque. Grace is beautiful on the other hand. I love it in spite of its popularity, such a classic/timeless name. Grace Jean sounds very pretty too.

Some other suggestions:
Charlotte Jean
Mara Jean
Juliet Jean
Elena Jean
Isabelle Jean
Emily Jean
Caroline Jean
Gabrielle Jean
Lily Jean
Penelope Jean

RedDwarves · 29/05/2018 03:41

Love Blythe and Grace, but if you want the middle name Jean, you're better off choosing a two syllable first name.

Alice Jean
Lucy Jean
Greta Jean
Clara Jean
Hannah Jean
Sarah Jean
Anna Jean
Catherine Jean (could have nn Kate)
Daphne Jean
Lila Jean / Lily Jean
Polly Jean

Constance

flumpybear · 29/05/2018 07:00

Why not Blythe grace?

TheDowagerCuntess · 29/05/2018 07:34

Blythe is lovely - don't think any harder about it!

Timeless, elegant, won't date - what more could you want!

Grace is nice damns with faint praise but it's everywhere. Not special any more, at all.

Flamingosnbears · 29/05/2018 07:52

Blythe is lovely and unusual with good meaning so I'd say go with that .

MrsPotts18 · 29/05/2018 10:24

Thank you all. DH is slightly smug that the MN majority is for Blythe Grin

@flumpybear Blythe Grace is lovely but we would love to use the middle name Jean after my DGM. This will be her 13th great grandchild and the only grandchild/great grandchild to carry her name. She will be thrilled and she's very special to me.

I do like Lucie but it is very popular in our area. Same with Grace which is maybe why I am hesitant in using the name. Very grateful for everyone's suggestions!

Marcipex · 29/05/2018 14:49

Please not BJ , it does matter.

Jean Blythe is better than BJ. You could still call her Blythe.
I really like Jeanie. Is that an option ?

MrsPotts18 · 29/05/2018 16:23

@Marcipex I thought the same. Especially when she goes to school, kids can be awful with the 'wrong' initials/name etc. Not keen on Jeanie although my gran would love it! Grin

Thankfully we still have 3.5 months to pick a name. Definitely been a lot of lovely suggestions so has given us names to think about. Boys names were so much easier for us!

OP posts:
TatianaLarina · 29/05/2018 16:37

I think you need Blythe Something Jean to break up the BJ.
