Boy names are tricky...

We have a double barreled surname think foster-sheppey (not this but same syllables and first letters) I've got a few girls names in mind but am really struggling with boy names. We don't want really out there or unique but also not half a dozen in each nursery class, write like something a bit traditional.
Girls names I like are;
Tabitha
Violet
Jude
Maybe Verity, Clementine

The only boy name I'm considering at the moment is Dexter but would like more options.
DH is very unhelpful and just suggests Marvel characters or F names so their initials would be FFS and then giggles..

Any suggestions appreciated!

Your girls name shortlist is similar to mine! So assuming we have similar taste, the boys names we’re considering are:

Alistair
William
Arthur
Laurence
Edward
Rory
Wilfred

Some might be too popular for you - I find it hard to find less popular boys names I like!

I do like Felix, but it's the FFS dilemma.. Jasper is nice too thanks applesandpears. I like a lot of the names suggested but am finding with girls names I feel a stronger attachment, hopefully it's a premonition!

Jude?

Jude feels like more of a boy's name to me because of Jude Law. And you do already like it.

FASH84 · 26/05/2018 19:20

Do you think Jude is ok for a boy? DH isn't convinced despite Jude law!

Waaaay more baby boys called Jude than girls these days.

Just look at the stats:

JUDE (boys): Up from 654th to 62nd
JUDE (girls): Down from 1434th to 1749th

daisypond · 26/05/2018 20:19

I'd assume Jude was a boy, too. I really like it.

sonnyboo · 26/05/2018 21:29

Dexter is nice or how about Quentin or Magnus?

Pudding01 · 26/05/2018 21:59

I thought Jude was a boys name... Totally works for your boys list Smile

ImNotAFlower · 26/05/2018 22:01

I lived Jude my husband didn't because if Jude Law. I ended up with a Morgan.

ImNotAFlower · 26/05/2018 22:02

I'm going to try that with no spelling mistakes...
I loved Jude. My husband didn't because of Jude Law.
I ended up with a Morgan.

That's better 😁
