Not for me... for a non-mumsnetty friend.
Too insubstantial?
Also being considered are:

Maeve
Lillia
Beth(an)
Hope

Surname W (elementary my dear...)

Thanks in advance Grin

Faye is a lovely gentle but yet at the same time not sickly sweet and very underused.
I could be wildly wrong but I don't think it's ever been in the top 50

bridgetreilly · 24/05/2018 19:39

I don't like Faye at all. Very wet.

I do like Bethan and Lilia. Maeve and Hope are okay. Almost anything is better than Faye, imo.

Quickerthanavicar · 24/05/2018 19:44

Faye is a lovely name

HappyLollipop · 24/05/2018 19:59

Not a fan of Faye, love Maeve though.

niknac1 · 24/05/2018 20:01

I really like Faye and Fei

Marioki · 24/05/2018 20:05

I like Faye, it's one of my favourites. Of the others I like Hope and Beth but not as much as Faye. I don't like Maeve and have no strong opinion on Lillia.

Faez · 24/05/2018 20:06

Fae is a great name, legendary ;)

Pudding01 · 24/05/2018 20:07

I think Faye is a really nice and pretty name that suits both the child and the adult Smile and not overly popular (I think)

I don't like the other suggestions, sorry x

GrumpySausage · 24/05/2018 20:07

Lovely name

AnyaMoondial · 24/05/2018 20:15

Faye is great. Alternative spelling of Fae also works.

ScreamingValenta · 24/05/2018 20:16

Beautiful name - I prefer it to others on the list.

robotcartrainhat · 24/05/2018 20:18

Absolutely love Maeve and I also really like Faye
I like Bethan but doesnt go with surname? dont like Beth on its own.
Hope is okay.
Lilia I dont really like, reminds me of sanpro

buttercup54321 · 24/05/2018 20:49

Love Fay.

Mollie85 · 24/05/2018 20:57

Thanks for all replies so far Smile

I work with a Fay who is in her thirties and is beautiful inside and out so have nice associations with that name. Never come across another, which for me is a good thing as I dislike popular names.

Babbaganoush · 24/05/2018 21:24

I really like Faye. Also like Bethan. Not keen on the others.

Marcipex · 24/05/2018 22:31

I like Faye, I think it's very pretty.

We had a Lilia at nursery. When her name was announced there was a great shriek of laughter from all the younger staff. Apparently it's a brand of sanpro.

ABitOTT · 24/05/2018 23:21

Really not keen on Faye. Really like Beth

RavenWings · 24/05/2018 23:43

I agree that Faye is a bit blah and meek.
Maeve - gorgeous
Lillia - seems a bit fussy somehow. I like Liliana and Lila though.
Beth(an) - nope
Hope - fine

TatianaLarina · 24/05/2018 23:45

Fay/e is very, very 80s.

Joeybee · 25/05/2018 00:12

Faye - You don't hear this name so much anymore, I think that's why initially it sounded a bit dated to me. However when I think of it, Faye is a name that could totally still work. There are a lot of short girls names like Ava, Mia, Eva etc, and Faye can fit right in with those.

Maeve - LOVE this name. It was on my list, but I've been put off by the fact that it seems to be becoming a bit trendy. Trendy names seems to come in an out of fashion very quickly and end up sounding tacky or pretentious.

Lillia - Nope. It's a nickname for something. Why not go with Lillian/Lily and use Lilla as a nickname?

Beth(an) - Prefer Bethany, it just sounds nicer. Bethan is a bit meh. Bethan is a bit blunt sounding. I can imagine a really bitchy girl being a Bethan. Whereas Bethany just sounds a little softer, and a more rounded name.

Hope - A pretty, timeless name. Hope sounds elegant to me. Probably my favourite off this list.

Mollie85 · 25/05/2018 09:15

Thank you all - food for thought Smile

I really don't like Faye, never have sorry. It's reminds me of grey and is very drab.
I like Lillia and Bethan though!

Mollie85 · 25/05/2018 11:15

She’s just thrown Honor into the mix too if that changes anything

HeyDolly · 25/05/2018 17:01

Maeve is my favourite from the list.

I’m another one who prefers Bethany to Bethan.
