Georgia or Caroline

We’re due our first baby in the next month or so and are suddenly swithering on her name...

Forr the last few months we’ve been referring to her as Georgia (sometimes Georgie) but over the last few days I’ve wondered if Caroline, which was always on our shortlist, would be a better name. I feel like they’re both quite similar, which is what makes deciding between them so tough Confused.

Middle name is long since decided, so we can’t use both.

Our surname is three syllables (think Robinson or similar). Which is nicer - please help!

I definitely prefer Caroline.

SnowGoArea · 24/05/2018 04:33

Love Georgia.

Melstarrynight · 24/05/2018 05:13

Caroline. Lots of Georgia's around atm.

AnyaMoondial · 24/05/2018 06:55

Caroline! Definitely. It's so cheerful and elegant at the same time.

andadietcoke · 24/05/2018 06:57

I like Caroline. I've always loved Carrie as a nn too.

Snipples · 24/05/2018 06:58

I like Georgia. Caroline may get shortened to Caz.

starkid · 24/05/2018 07:05

I like both, but Georgia slightly more :)

RoseMartha · 24/05/2018 07:09

I prefer Georgia but Caroline is more unusual

NoStraightEdges · 24/05/2018 07:11

Every Caroline I know is Caz or Cazza. Actually I know one who gets called Cal.

So it's Georgia for me!

RavenWings · 24/05/2018 07:37

Georgia.

InkSnail · 24/05/2018 07:39

I prefer the sound of Georgia, but Caroline definitely deserves a comeback. She won't have to be a "Caz", there's Caro and Carrie too.

Jammycustard · 24/05/2018 07:39

Georgia

InkSnail · 24/05/2018 07:39

... and Callie

RedDwarves · 24/05/2018 07:42

Georgia. I've always loved Georgia.

There is no nice shortening for Caroline, and I've known Carolines to have their name mistakenly pronounced "Carolyn", which is awful.

WyldDucks · 24/05/2018 08:05

I like Georgina or Caroline, especially shortened to Caro!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 24/05/2018 08:26

Caroline is much prettier, although I also like Georgina.

user1499173618 · 24/05/2018 08:28

Caroline or Georgina are both more elegant (if that is a criterion for you) than Georgia.

LastNightsMakeUp · 24/05/2018 08:33

Georgia was on our short list but something about it just didn't feel right for us either. I LOVE Caro as a nn of Caroline - makes me think of Caro Emerald m.youtube.com/watch?v=74LXx0wSqMI

gwen25 · 24/05/2018 10:01

Definitely Caroline.

Guineapiggiesmalls · 24/05/2018 14:31

Oh, I hadn’t even thought of ‘Caz’ as a potential nickname for Caroline. I just assumed Carrie or Caro! Thank you for all your ideas.

Maybe I just have to wait and see what she looks like... I had looked forward to baby naming, I didn’t realise it’d be such a minefield!

Caroline. I only know one and she is always 'Caroline', to family, friends, colleagues. Being called Caz or Carrie is not inevitable.

Ickyockycocky · 24/05/2018 15:07

Georgia ❤️

MikeUniformMike · 24/05/2018 15:36

Caroline could be Caro, Carrie, Cally or Carly. Or Caz.
Georgia could be Georgie or Geourge.
I like both. Not much help but I'd probably go for Caroline.

MammieBear · 24/05/2018 16:18

Caroline is more unusual...

bridgetreilly · 24/05/2018 19:03

I prefer Caroline, but agree they are similar sorts of name.
