Not pregnant yet, just pondering with DP.

We like one syllable boys names and don't like girls names that end in vowels.

Our lists are:

Hazel
Violet
Morgan
Nell

Jem
Gus
Zach
Walt
Joss

Any thoughts on our lists? What else might we like?

Favourite is Morgan, but I also love Hazel. Nell is fine, but prefer it as a nickname for a longer name. Violet - it's OK, but not one I particularly love.

Favourite is Jem, but also like Zach and Joss. I prefer the longer forms for Gus and Walt, as oddly, those ones specifically feel a bit incomplete to me on their own. I don't know why.

Nell- elizabeth
Jem-jeremy
Gus- Gustav
Zach- zachery
Walt-walter
Joss- Jocelyn- either male or female

They are all shortened names- call them the full name and shorten them.

Why, may I ask? My name is a shortened name on my birth certificate and it's never caused any issues.

All of those long names are horrible.

Hazel and Jem are lovely. Also like Fern as suggested by PP

AnyaMoondial · 24/05/2018 07:01

Hazel and violet are gorgeous.

I also suggest Rose and Beatrice.

TatianaLarina · 24/05/2018 08:05

Morgan is horribly American (even despite Morgan le Fay)

Love Violet and Nell.

Only like Zach from your boy’s list.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 24/05/2018 08:32

From your lists, I love Joss.

Love Violet - can’t use it myself as sounds awful with our surname!

RedDwarves · 24/05/2018 09:12

James nn Jem. Still one syllable.

Love Violet, but don't like the rest (Hazel is alright though, I guess).

Not keen on Morgan but I love Violet & Nell.
Not keen on the boys names but then I'm not sure which boys names I do like.
I'm mainly a fan of old fashioned names Frank, Fred, Bert etc

lunatunes · 24/05/2018 12:09

Absolutely adore Nell, this was one on my list if I had a girl.

LooseyInTheSky · 25/05/2018 23:10

Thanks all - all hypothetical at the minute. Probably a bit sad that this is how DP and I spend our evenings really!

You might also like Heather, Margot, Viola, Esme, Tom, Max, Jonas, Alec, Shay, Arik, Thorfinn, Enzo and Henry.
