Hi there! I've posted before but now it's crunch time do some last minute advice would be great! Our son is named Euan and my partner likes Barnes as a middle (his mums maiden name) and I like Albert (my papas name) and baby has a 2 syllable last name.
Which do you prefer? Thanks!!

I prefer Albert but why not 2 middle names? Euan Albert Barnes sounds great.

Congrats! Flowers

Of the two, Albert.
But I agree with PP - go for both!

maymai · 22/05/2018 13:49

Euan barnaby?

Wolfiefan · 22/05/2018 13:52

Barnes is a surname. Not that.

TeeBee · 22/05/2018 13:53

My sons have two middle names, one of which is common to them both...its like a second surname I suppose. My DH was close to his granddad and wanted to pass on his family name. Can you do that with Barnes (so it comes immediately before your surname)?

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 22/05/2018 13:55

I agree with pp: Euan Albert Barnes in that order.

Proudmummy2MA · 22/05/2018 14:49

I prefer Euan Albert :-)

TroubledLichen · 22/05/2018 14:50

Euan Albert Barnes (Surname). Perfect!

Missymoo82 · 22/05/2018 14:50

His sister has only one middle name, which is my partners grandmas name. I wonder if two middles for one child and only one middle for her is strange? I find it a bit of a mouthful! I often call her by both first and middle together, and would like to do the same with him.... Hmmm

I agree with pp, do both! Having Albert first makes Barnes work more as a middle name, imo.

GlitterRollerSkate · 22/05/2018 14:56

I only have one middle name and my brother has 2. It has never crossed my mind to care.

Euan Albert Barnes sounds lovely. Also like Barnaby as suggested by maymai

lifechangesforever · 22/05/2018 14:59

I have 3 middle names, my 3 brothers have 2 middle names each - never even crossed my mind that it was strange that they were different (besides the fact I have 3 at all!)

Mountainsoutofmolehills · 22/05/2018 15:01

Euan Albert Barnes is fine, I doubt you are going to call him Euan -Albert for long. I am not a mad fan of berts in name endings personally, and if you like shortening things EB is good.

My sister has a name like Chantal-Anne without a middle name, and I have a normal name with a middle name. We have never had an issue about this, most other things we have had issues with ;)

ellalouise90 · 22/05/2018 17:36

I think barns flows better 💙

InkSnail · 22/05/2018 17:48

Albert

Secretusernamex · 22/05/2018 18:12

I think use the name from your side if your other child has a bame from your partners side...only fair lol

buttercup54321 · 22/05/2018 21:56

I would use both.

MikeUniformMike · 23/05/2018 16:57

Barnes. Surname as middle name is fine, but you may get some trying to double barrell his name, which they probably wouldn't if the 'surname' was one that could also be a first name (George/James/Lewis etc)
