Help needed - girl’s name

Baby girl due in less than 2 weeks. I thought we were pretty much decided on a name - Iris - but having revisited the subject for the first time in weeks yesterday, my DH expressed doubts about the name. I now feel a bit lost and back to square one with only a short time to go and I need some help and inspiration!

We have 2 other DC (boy and girl) both with very short names that you can’t really mess around with nickname-wise and I thought we were after something similar again (I am anyway!) although DH suggested Matilda or Beatrix last night as he liked that they have ‘options’. I don’t think they go with our other DC’s names though.

I love Matilda, Iris and Tess.

Quite like Bonnie...but feels like a nickname. Is it short for something? Nancy is ok. The others we can’t use for one reason or another. Thanks for suggestions though.

Love Ada but a bit too similar to Eva, my DD’s name. Elspeth is pretty but don’t want to use E initial again for another girl. Lois and Cora I like.

Don’t like those other suggestions, sorry Awwlook. We already have a Penelope and a very similar name to Celia in the family, and I really dislike the others. Not generally a fan of Granny Chic names although perhaps Iris could fall under that category. Again thanks for replying though.

Iris is lovely as is Tess. I like most of the names on your list except Tansy which for some reason I hate, it seems really weak and wet to me.

I’m finding it so hard this time around. Because this is number 3 and I know so many children and have a big family, so many of these names are ‘taken’ in my mind! Mila is nice (but same initial as my son...not the end of the world but would prefer a different initial. This is part of my hesitation with Marnie and Matilda too!) I love Nina but can’t use it. We also like Megan but worry about the Markle effect on the name.

One of my favourite names is Zilpha- you can either say Zil-pa or Zilfa- .
It is a traditional name, but one you rarely hear now.

Pudding, Erin is one of my favourite girl’s names. When I was pregnant with DD1, it was top name throughout my pregnancy and then two weeks before she was due my DH vetoed it Now it feels like he’s doing exactly the same this time around with Iris Ironically, he says he quite likes Erin now but I don’t want to use the same initial for 2 girls (we went for Eva in the end).

Ivy I like but it feels too similar to Eva. Isla is already in use in our family. Lara is very similar to my own name and Lucy has already been vetoed by DH!

Tansy is lovely.

How about Maud?

But also, if you still really like Iris, tell DH you're sticking with it!

Ohh noo. I think Eva and Erin are cute, but totally get what you mean on same initials. It's a shame really, if your DH has changed his mind with Erin, can't he change it with Iris 🙈

That was going to be her name @ellalouise90 (without the hyphen...Matilda as middle name) I thought it was lovely and I thought DH liked it too...not sure why he’s changed his mind. Sob sob

@CoffeeChocolateWine try and persuade him my boyfriend wasn't the biggest fan of our 3 year old girls name ( Heidi ) but considering it had been on my list since I was 12 I managed to get him too warm up to it 🤣
