I think it’s a strong classic that would be an unusual choice for a baby nowadays, but is it still too plain/boring? I’d probably use a more uncommon middle name.

Thanks! Smile

Due for a comeback I'd say.

bridgetreilly · 19/05/2018 17:52

Can't go wrong with it.

banannabreadforme · 19/05/2018 17:55

I like it. There are no Johns in my sons class.

ImAGoofyGoober · 19/05/2018 17:56

I prefer Jon, it seems a bit more modern.

TatianaLarina · 19/05/2018 18:13

Good old-fashioned classic manly name.

didsomeonesaybunny · 19/05/2018 18:22

I really like it. It’s one of my middle name options.

RavenWings · 19/05/2018 18:25

Yes! Great choice. Can remember meeting 3 kids who'd be somewhere under 10 now named it, but very unusual - I think they were using family names.

Perfect - DS15 is JohnGrin, he's been the only 'John' so far in his peer group, and added bonus is it's short and easy when they are learning to write.

buttercup54321 · 19/05/2018 21:32

Very nice and due a comeback.

DramaAtTheTurkeyCafe · 19/05/2018 21:37

It’s a great name.

mimibunz · 19/05/2018 21:42

I love John. It’s a strong name that a boy can build from.

Sophronia · 19/05/2018 21:48

Seems very positive so far! Smile Any middle name suggestions?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 19/05/2018 22:11

John, what a great name !

triangulum · 19/05/2018 22:14

Love it. I'd go for Jonathan as a long name.

We chose it as a middle name for our DS and I was a bit gutted we couldn't use it when DS2 came along.

Jonathan Daniel?
Jonathan Michael?
Jonathan James
John William (but Jonathan William seems too much of a mouthful)

We also liked Robert, Peter, James and Edward.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 19/05/2018 22:19

John Henry
John Roland
John Francis
John Norman
John Victor
John Mathias
John Lysander
John Bruce

InkSnail · 19/05/2018 22:23

It's a great name. Hardly used now but a solid classic.

Wouldn't recommend Thomas as middle name though Blush

Hellsbellscockleshells · 19/05/2018 22:26

John is fab strong and classic name it would suit a baby, boy and man. Many middle names would go well with it.
John Michael
John James
John Henry
John Benjamin
John Albert
John Arthur
Avoid John Thomas though 😂 😂

Icklepickle101 · 19/05/2018 22:27

I love it, it’s DS middle name Smile

DN4GeekinDerby · 19/05/2018 22:37

I prefer Jon/Jonathan, but I agree with others that is it a lovely name.

Middle names... part of me would be tempted by Jonathan Ronald or John Reuel if you're a Tolkien fan Grin (I know it's John Ronald Reuel but I think Jonathan Ronald flows better). I do quite like Reuel.

Other middles names to go with John/Jon/Jonathan:
Edward
Gratian
Alexis
Clement
Stellan

RedDwarves · 19/05/2018 22:50

John's a great name.

I'm not a fan of Jon or Jonathan though.

Mincepies76 · 19/05/2018 22:52

John Maurice!

Joeybee · 19/05/2018 23:39

To me John is a classic name, but yeah people aren't naming their kids that anymore. I don't think John is boring. John is a name which grows well with a child into an adult. Also there are nicknames like Jonno/Johnny/Jay that make the name a little more interesting.
My brother is called John, and I've always thought it's a nice standard, in-offensive name that he can't be judged by.
