What are people's opinions?

Fabian Isaac

French blood line on both sides and a French surname that this would be a nod to. I know the French spelling is usually -en at the end, but we prefer the above!

I love the name Fabian. Is it unisex? I went to school in Europe and knew both a female and a male. Fabien and Fabienne I think? Also a girl pronouced Fabe -ee -an rather than Fabe - ee - en. If youre going to live ober here though i think people will pronouce it as Fabe - ee - en thoygh if you spell it like that.

Flomper · 16/05/2018 20:06

Fabe - ee - anne i mean

Aprilmightbemynewname · 16/05/2018 20:06

It's Fab!! Grin

borlottibeans · 16/05/2018 20:07

I'd assume you were Labour people too.

On the plus side if he becomes interested in left wing takes on obscure areas of public policy when he's older, there's plenty of pamphlets with his name on.

TroubledLichen · 16/05/2018 20:09

Reminds me of all the middle aged female Fabiennes I know, so it’s a no from me. I do want to love it though, it is a nice name!

Efferlunt · 16/05/2018 20:11

I like it but would assume you were socialist.

Ohyesiam · 16/05/2018 20:13

It would be a good name if he were in arty middle class set up.

clairehr · 16/05/2018 20:18

@Flomper Yes, Fabienne is the female version of Fabien. And Fabian seems to have evolved as an English spelling.

I love that it's unusual and gives a nod to our ancestry.

Very rarely I click on a baby name thread and love a name. But I love this one (may be biased on the middle name). Fabian is awesome!

MrsMozart · 16/05/2018 21:10

I'm not a political bod.

I like the name Smile

Hellywelly10 · 16/05/2018 21:12

Sounds like a naughty kids name too me.

Sophronia · 16/05/2018 22:30

I love it!

Buntysoven · 16/05/2018 23:26

I love it too. Sounds arty rather than naughty to me!

SongsOfInnocence · 16/05/2018 23:31

Fabian is the German spelling. The name is popular especially in the south.

BlancheM · 16/05/2018 23:36

I really like it. Popular name

LooseyInTheSky · 16/05/2018 23:48

My first thought was Fabian Society too.

Sunbeam18 · 16/05/2018 23:51

Beautiful

clairehr · 17/05/2018 07:46

We're not political either and I would hope that even if that's someone's first thought when they are introduced that it is fleeting once they actually engage.

We've never met anyone with the same name and know of no little Fabians around, plus popularity-wise it's currently around number 650 so not too concerned about it becoming super fashionable any time soon.

Thanks to all who have commented, I'm surprised, but glad that most seem to like it!

FoofFighter · 17/05/2018 08:10

My first thought was it's the name of one of Milli Vanilli Blush

Sorry OP it's not a name I like. It feels feeble.

sonnyboo · 17/05/2018 09:16

I would assume you're German. Fabian, along with Florian, are very popular boys names in Germany

HoratioNightboy · 17/05/2018 10:27

I don't mind it as a name, but my first thought is still "Labourite".
