Which of the following do you think work best? We plan on her being known by the nn. Annie :)

Anna Blake
Liliana Dawn
Juliana Elise

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Anna

And, much as you'd like to, you won't be able to dictate what her little mates call her when she starts school.

jollyhollygolightly · 14/05/2018 14:50

All I mean is that at home we will probably call her Annie. I think it will be nice for her friends to call her whatever comes naturally, no need to dictate. Only mentioned it as I was unsure whether nn Annie seemed too much of a stretch for Liliana/Juliana.

Anna

or you really run the risk of having a Jue or a Lil!

And Anna is miles nicer than either.

2tired2bewitty · 14/05/2018 14:59

I think you do have a certain amount of control over what others call her - for example, I know an Elizabeth known as Lily, I don’t suppose any of her little nursery pals know she’s really Elizabeth and once they move up to school ‘Lily’ will be established as her name. We do live in a place where pretty much the whole nursery class will move directly into the school next door though.

BackforGood · 14/05/2018 15:03

Anna - or dare I say 'Annie' if that is what you want to call her.
With the other twpn she is likely to end up being Lili or Julie

TatianaLarina · 14/05/2018 15:06

Probably Juliana of those. Tho I don’t like Jules.

Anna on it’s own is really tedious.

What about Pollyanna?

Kintan · 14/05/2018 15:20

I'd go for Anna simply because I don't like nicknames that don't start with the same letter as the actual name.

n0ne · 14/05/2018 15:23

I don't get Annie from Liliana or Juliana as they have a long ah-sound, not the short a of Annie. Sorry, OP

bridgetreilly · 14/05/2018 16:19

Anna Elise.

I don't like Blake as a middle name at all.

Dreamingofkfc · 14/05/2018 16:25

Why not just call her Annie? Liliana is most likely to be NN Lily and prob Juliana Julie/Jules

Sophronia · 14/05/2018 18:55

Anna is lovely

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 14/05/2018 18:57

If you want to call her Annie, Anna is the only one that makes sense.

heateallthebuns · 14/05/2018 19:02

I would like liliana Juliana and Elise. Don't like the other names much!!

MikeUniformMike · 14/05/2018 19:10

I would say the names as Julie-ah-na and Lily-ah-na.
If you are going to call her Annie how about Annie, Annabel, Ann or Antonia? I know Antonia is not related to the name Annie but it works.

buttercup54321 · 14/05/2018 20:16

Juliana Dawn
Juliet
Julia

Proudmummy2MA · 14/05/2018 20:41

I love the name Anna but I don't like Blake. My first choice would be Anna with a different middle name. If the middle name was set my second choice would be Liliana Dawn.

I know an Antonia who goes by the nn Annie.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 14/05/2018 20:43

Anna is a beautiful name !
Anna Dawn.⭐️

felicitythemangyfox · 14/05/2018 20:59

Anna - because it's the nicest name.

Buntysoven · 14/05/2018 23:53

Anna is lovely. Simple but elegant. Really dislike Blake though. Anna Dawn of the names given

jollyhollygolightly · 15/05/2018 00:29

Thanks all, Anna definitely seems to be a front-runner which is awesome because it's our favourite! Will use Blake (DH's late mother's name) or Dawn as mn. Anna Elise sounds too close to Anneliese. Grin

My only worry with Anna was that it was perhaps too plain. I'm not a fan of dime a dozen names (e.g. Ava, Mia, Eleanor, Olivia). Growing up, I loved having a more unique name, not being another Emily, Claire or Jade in the crowd. So, I would love DD to be able to have that. Do you guys know many little Annas? Thoughts?

I pronounce Liliana and Juliana with a short a like in Annie by the way, which is why it made sense to me. Would spelling Lilianna and Julianna work better? Just trying to keep some options for if the name we choose doesn't suit. Any other suggestions of names that can be nn Annie are appreciated!

I don't think Annie would stick as a nickname for Juliana or Liliana.

Pressuredrip · 15/05/2018 00:35

Anna would just be Anna, no? A nickname is usually shorter. Why not Annabelle if you want a longer name? All the Annie's I knew in school were Annabelle

School12345 · 15/05/2018 00:36

The only people I know with the nickname Annie are called Ann.

I also know a young girl whose proper name is Annie - why not do that if you want her to be called Annie?

School12345 · 15/05/2018 00:38

I have known two Annas over the years and they have both just been Anna, not Annie. I don't think it's a natural nickname for Anna, which is short enough not to require a nickname.

I might find it a bit odd if you said the baby was Anna but known as Annie. Just call her Annie.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 15/05/2018 01:02

I'm an Anna and I love my name! But I've never been called Annie by anyone. As pp said, Annie is usually a nn for Anne.
