Bruce vs Arthur middle names

I've posted a couple of times over the past few months but we've finally decided on Wilfred for our little one due very soon!

However we aren't sure on the final middle names. One of them is after a member of the family.

It's a toss up between Wilfred Bruce or Wilfred Arthur.

Any help would be appreciated! Smile

Arthur

Bruce just makes me think of Forsyth...

Sophronia · 13/05/2018 22:18

Wilfred Arthur

Arthur. Bruce makes me think of Jenner.

I feel like you're me! I adore Wilfred and although we didn't use it, it was in our final three. We went with Arthur for middle name as although Bruce has family history for us we decided Arthur was less divisive/controversial!

MinaPaws · 13/05/2018 22:48

Wilfred Arthur. I love both names.

DramaAlpaca · 13/05/2018 22:51

Arthur is much nicer than Bruce.

Doesn't matter too much with middle names, they don't tend to get used out loud, except at graduation and weddings. However, I'd ask anyone named Bruce if they were Australian Grin
The disadvantage of Arthur is that - obviously dependent on other names - having an 'a' in the middle of first and surnames can often spell something - so just check that isn't going to be an issue.

Arthur

Love Bruce! Arthur is getting very popular lately - I know 3 under 3 (as a first name). It's a great name, though. I'd go with the family name.

I prefer the name Arthur, and also I think it flows better with Wilfred. Both names work though. And btw Wilfred is an awesome name.

Thanks for your replies everyone!

We've still not decided!! I think Arthur is the same sort of era as Wilfred so sounds better in that sense but my amazing FIL is a Bruce and it would mean so much to him! But equally we don't want to give our son a random name!

Wilfred Bruce. Much more original than Arthur especially if it has sentimental meaning.

starkid · 15/05/2018 19:53

Arthur!

buttercup54321 · 16/05/2018 00:38

Wilfred Arthur Bruce. All mine have 3 names.

Bruce. If your surname is Norton-Kerr or similar, Arthur.
