We love the name Eve for a girl. There is an Evie in the wider family (not a direct relative, but still another child). Do you thinks that’s acceptable to use Eve still? What if we checked with the parents first (not that they could really say no). Is that unreasonable?

I don't think you need to check. Their daughter has a similar name, not the same name. If you like it, go ahead and use it. I think it's a lovely name.

How often do you see this child? Will they have the same surname?

manicinsomniac · 09/05/2018 22:33

I think that's fine. Especially if it's not even a relative (what's a non direct relative?)

I have two cousins with the same name. One's more than 10 years older than the other. Never been a particular problem.

DramaAlpaca · 09/05/2018 22:37

I don't think you need to check, just go for it if you love it.

Eve is a lovely name - it's short, neat, elegant & sophisticated. I wouldn't let anything put you off it.

chezmk1988 · 10/05/2018 10:01

It's fine. It's not the same name so go for it
Eve is lovely.

Thank you - no different surname. See every so often at some family get togethers.

I think this is fine

talimom500 · 11/05/2018 03:20

I wouldn’t worry about it, just go ahead and use the name if you like it. No ones got a patent on it; it’s not like these relatives invented it.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 11/05/2018 18:49

I think it's fine.

daisypond · 11/05/2018 18:51

It's fine.

MiniMum97 · 12/05/2018 00:16

I wouldn't.

catinboots9 · 12/05/2018 00:25

Meh don't worry. I know a sibset Eleanor, Elliot and Evie

Hmm
Joeybee · 12/05/2018 03:08

If it's not a close relative I see no reason why it's a problem. Eve is a different name to Evie anyway. If that's the name you like, go for it, I wouldn't even ask 'permission' from the parents.
