Girls’ names - sister for Harriet

BananaBlaps · 07/05/2018 06:52

Only 9 weeks pregnant, but if I like these names...what else might I like. I know it might be a boy but focussing on girls for now!

Middle name would be Rosemary.

  • Connie (I’m not overly keen on Constance but also wouldn’t really want to put a nickname as her full name on birth certificate). But I love Connie.
  • Tabitha (too much?)
  • Abigail (just really like Abi as a nn)
  • Anna (love it - DH says no)
  • Clara
  • Flora (love it - apart from the spread connotations!)
  • Vivienne
  • Catherine (DH likes - I’m a bit meh about it)

So, thoughts on the above please and any more to add?

Thanks!

Adore Anna, so that is a shame. Vivienne is great. Cornelia as suggested by a pp, with Connie as a nn? It's so much nicer than Constance (I agree with you on that).

I'm not sure about Connie on its own. Alongside Harriet, I'd definitely feel short-changed if I were the Connie! Harriet and Constance is actually much better in that respect.

Harriet and Cornelia is lovely.

BananaBlaps · 07/05/2018 12:03

Yeah I think it’d have to be Constance in full. Plus Constance rosemary sounds a lot better than Connie rosemary. I know you don’t often stay your full name, but still.

I don’t like Cornelia. Sorry!

Lots of lovely names suggested but can’t use cos already taken by family / friends. Philippa being one of those. Pippa and Hattie sounds so good!!

Also we do like Samantha - what do people think of that?

And I love Penny. But I’m not sure about Penelope. Which is a shame...I really like Penny!

I like all the names on your list esp Clara and Constance, other names that could work are

Florence
Lydia
Charlotte
Clementine (although perhaps a bit of a mouthful with Rosemary)
Alice
Louisa
Genevieve

Standardpubquizname · 07/05/2018 12:39

Samantha is quite 80s/90s imo but perhaps due a revival and does go with Harriet, love Penny/Penelope

Elliebobbins · 07/05/2018 12:43

I have Harriet and Tabitha on my list and I also really like Felicity, Celeste, Camille and Sylvie.

Sophronia · 07/05/2018 13:06

Celeste is lovely.

Hall456 · 07/05/2018 14:57

I know a Constance nn Coco. I love it and think Hattie and Coco sound great together. My other favourites would be Philippa (but you’ve ruled out) and Josephine nn Posey.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 07/05/2018 15:08

Samantha? No way! It belongs with Danielle and Stacey.

Raffadoodle · 07/05/2018 15:35

Evelyn
Esme

chezmk1988 · 07/05/2018 16:37

I like Vivienne the best and it's on my list but I think Connie goes best with Rosemary

AnyaMoondial · 07/05/2018 16:57

Eliza

Also like Samantha

daisypond · 07/05/2018 17:23

Samantha doesn't seem to fit very well with Harriet, in my opinion. Tabitha, Martha and Abigail all seem to have a similar vibe to Harriet.
Of if you you go back to 18th, early 19th century times when Harriet was a rather genteel name, you could look at some Jane Austen-type names, which have some nice diminutives.
Frances
Cassandra
Elizabeth
Georgiana, etc.

Aylarose · 07/05/2018 17:44

Clara/Cara and Anna are pretty. Matilda would be nice as 'Tilly and Hattie' go together (if you use Hattie). Juliette would have a similar rhythm to Harriet. Georgina might go.

Connie is nice, I don't like Constance.

Littlemum2be86 · 07/05/2018 17:50

My sisters name is Connie and that’s her full name on her birth certificate. I don’t think it needs to be Constance - Connie is a name in its own right. I think it’s beautiful and I’ve never met another. She is always getting compliments on her name.

Great choice OP 😊

Enko · 07/05/2018 18:15

What about Bonnie or Lonnie if you don't want Connie as it sounds like a " nickname?"

auntyflonono · 07/05/2018 19:51

Leonora
Octavia

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 07/05/2018 19:55

Samantha is a great name.

What about:
Letitia
Marion
Valentina
Luciana
Louisa
Frances

cherrytrees123 · 07/05/2018 19:56

Vivienne Juliet would be my pick

nikkil123 · 07/05/2018 21:04

Willow
Sienna
Scarlett

They were the ones i had lined up until we found out bump is a boy!

SoftSheen · 07/05/2018 21:08

What about Talitha (Tally)?

I also love Clara and Anna. Either go well with Harriet, IMO.

pilates · 07/05/2018 21:19

Jessica
Eliza
Imogen

HappyHedgehog247 · 07/05/2018 21:20

Imogen and look at Jill's Cooper's other titles too!
